Job Summary: Responsible for installation and maintenance of the performance of database servers. Develops processes for optimizing database security. Responsibilities: Plans, coordinates and performs server install procedures per project and support requirements Creates and maintains databases in accordance with application requirements and policies on licensing, security, back-up, maintenance, data integrity, logs review Converts or migrates databases / data as necessary for technical upgrade, optimization, recovery, project , relocation Documents set-up and communicate server availability Demonstrates expertise in tuning database systems with proper analysis and implementation of recommendations for performance improvement Monitors DB activities, identify slow running queries or stored procedures Monitors System for locks, resource contention, deadlock resolution Notifies Application teams of findings/stored procedures for optimization Identifies and addresses DB configuration, server hardware/software resource for tuning Provides high quality, balanced analysis and advice on a range of DB troubleshooting issues Investigates, evaluates , resolves complex problem situations without escalation and with minimal supervision Implements effective solution or recovery within specified SLA Creates root cause analysis report for critical outage events Participates in on-call rotation for reactive support and respond to monitoring alerts in a timely manner Documents DR procedures for future reference Notifies existing version level, supplies new version level based on the new schema introduced by the build in order to ensure correct version level is retrieved per country database Ensures proper timing on deploying patches or builds that will not impact business users during working hours Plans for, recommends, implements efficient back-up/recovery procedures as required for development / business need Performs back-ups and restores as necessary for operational coverage, project, support, adhoc requirements Be aware of Backup and Load procedure like user mapping, aliases, and access rights Ensures availability of valid database back-ups at all times Plans, recommends, develops procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of database environments Creates DB accounts for specific applications/users Grants roles, schema and object rights per access / privilege assignment Terminates processes upon user request Verifies and applies builds upon request by Change Management in order to release builds to the site Verifies and applies builds to UAT/Production, as required for site support assignments Implements controlled database specific application changes when and where appropriate including after business hours Assumes the role of a subject matter expert in providing database related technical inputs, design, direction during the project life cycle Researches on new database technology for project deployment/support Liaises with Project Manager, Network Engineer, Project/Application team, User base and other DBAs on direction for DB environment set-ups, requirements estimations, design of engineering solutions, workplans, timelines, standards, implementation guidelines, and execution of processes to ensure databases effectively support project requirements , business needs and service level objectives Looks to improve efficiencies of processes to achieve team objectives Adheres to Systems Development and Support Life Cycles and communicate accordingly in order to align the team with company direction and goals Ensures awareness of individual responsibilities and timelines Ensures that work is properly documented and saved in a central repository for team reference Be mindful of risk issues and escalation procedures for any issues and concerns encountered Qualifications: General understanding of distributed computing architectures, Client/Server, Internet/Intranet, Enterprise, Basic Windows, Unix Solaris , AIX Administration Ability to identify problems, analyze cause and implement solutions with accuracy, resourcefulness and urgency Anticipates potential problems, identifies risks, develops contingency plans Ability to create Root-Cause Analysis Reports for critical outage events Effectively collaborate with functional teams both local and foreign on database related matters Ability to express thoughts and ideas in English to effectively support application/project/business needs Listens to inputs and opinions when analyzing course of action Expresses confidence on customer facing Can confidently operate with minimal management oversight Willingly accepts increased responsibilities; seeks to improve service delivery About Us: Vantage Financial Corporation (operating under the name e-Biz) is the Group's international money transfer service provider with additional offerings in its money change, bills payment, and airline ticketing services.
