Job description

Jouzy Consulting Engineers, established in Dubai in 1966, provides multidisciplinary design and supervision services across buildings and infrastructure projects.

We are looking for an Interior Design Engineer to supervise interior and fit-out works on villa projects in Dubai. The role involves checking workmanship, reviewing technical submissions, coordinating site activities, and following up on defects through to completion and handover.

This is a site supervision position requiring practical experience in the execution and inspection of interior works.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise interior and fit-out works against approved drawings, specifications, material approvals, and project quality requirements.
• Review interior shop drawings, material submissions, samples, and mock-ups, and provide clear technical comments.
• Inspect finishing works, including flooring, wall finishes, ceilings, joinery, doors, decorative elements, and fixed furniture.
• Check setting-out, dimensions, levels, alignments, junctions, and installation details before and during execution.
• Coordinate interior details with architectural, structural, and MEP drawings, including lighting, air-conditioning grilles, access panels, and service locations.
• Identify drawing discrepancies and site clashes, and follow up on technical queries with the relevant teams.
• Record defects and non-compliant work, communicate required corrections, and verify that corrective work meets the approved requirements.
• Monitor the progress of interior works and highlight delays, missing approvals, or coordination issues to the Resident Engineer or project lead.
• Maintain inspection records, site observations, photographs, and progress updates.
• Prepare snagging lists, inspect completed corrections, and support final inspections and handover.
• Review relevant as-built drawings and handover documents within the assigned scope.

Requirements

• Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
• Relevant experience supervising interior and fit-out works on villa projects.
• Engineering consultancy experience is preferred.
• Practical knowledge of finishing materials, joinery, installation methods, and workmanship standards.
• Ability to read and review interior drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and material submissions.
• Experience coordinating interior works with architectural and MEP teams.
• Experience in inspections, snagging, and handover.
• Ability to use AutoCAD, review PDF drawings, and prepare clear site reports.
• Good written and spoken English, attention to detail, and the ability to follow up effectively with contractors.
