This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong expertise across enterprise networking, systems administration, virtualization, cloud platforms, cybersecurity controls, monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and automation. The successful candidate will be capable of independently designing, troubleshooting, and improving complex infrastructure environments across on-premises data centers, schools/entities, and cloud platforms. The role will provide technical leadership to infrastructure operations, drive cloud adoption and modernization, and ensure the availability, security, resilience, and performance of critical IT services. Key Responsibilities: 1. Hybrid Cloud & Infrastructure Architecture: · Design, deploy, manage, and continuously improve hybrid infrastructure across Azure, Google Cloud, and on-premises data centers. · Own technical architecture for compute, storage, virtualization, cloud services, and core infrastructure platforms. · Lead cloud migration, modernization, capacity planning, scalability, and infrastructure optimization initiatives. · Assess current infrastructure and define practical roadmaps for cloud adoption, modernization, resilience, and lifecycle replacement. · Provide senior technical guidance for infrastructure projects, designs, standards, and technology decisions. 2. Enterprise Systems & Server Administration: · Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux (Ubuntu/RHEL) environments at an enterprise level. · Manage Active Directory, Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, file services, certificates, and core Windows infrastructure. · Manage Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, and related administrative services. · Design, manage, and troubleshoot VMware, Hyper-V, and ESXi virtualization environments. · Manage server lifecycle, patching, hardening, capacity, performance, and availability. 3. Network Engineering & Connectivity: · Design, implement, manage, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, WLAN, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and network services. · Manage and troubleshoot enterprise firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, IDS/IPS, and related security/network appliances. · Design and maintain secure connectivity between sites, data centers, and cloud environments using Site-to-Site VPN, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, or equivalent technologies. · Diagnose complex network and infrastructure incidents and provide root-cause analysis rather than relying solely on escalation. · Maintain network and infrastructure diagrams, standards, IP addressing, configurations, and operational documentation. 4. Cloud Engineering & Security: · Hands-on administration of Azure and/or Google Cloud services including compute, storage, networking, IAM, monitoring, backup, and security controls. · Implement cloud landing-zone concepts, identity controls, network segmentation, secure connectivity, and least-privilege access. · Monitor cloud resource utilization, availability, performance, and cost, and recommend optimization actions. · Support secure migration of workloads from on-premises environments to cloud platforms. · Apply cloud security and operational best practices aligned with ISO 27001, NIST, and CIS principles. 5. Backup, Disaster Recovery & Resilience: · Own infrastructure backup strategy and ensure reliable backup operations using Veeam, Azure Backup, or equivalent platforms. · Design, document, and test disaster recovery, business continuity, and restoration procedures. · Define recovery objectives and ensure critical systems have appropriate redundancy and recovery mechanisms. · Investigate backup failures and lead corrective actions to maintain agreed recovery readiness. 6. Monitoring, Automation & Operational Excellence: · Implement infrastructure monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or equivalent tools. · Develop dashboards, alerts, capacity reports, and operational metrics for proactive infrastructure management. · Automate provisioning, configuration, patching, monitoring, and repetitive operational activities using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent. · Establish infrastructure standards, runbooks, operational procedures, and configuration baselines. · Lead problem management and root-cause analysis for recurring infrastructure and service issues. 7. Technical Leadership & Team Development: · Act as the senior technical authority for infrastructure, providing direction to network, systems, and technical support resources. · Mentor and develop junior engineers and administrators through knowledge transfer, documentation, and hands-on coaching. · Review infrastructure changes, designs, configurations, and implementation plans for technical quality and risk. · Work closely with Development, Application Support, Cybersecurity, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable technology services. Required Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. · 8+ years of hands-on experience across enterprise infrastructure, networking, systems administration, virtualization, and cloud environments. · Demonstrated experience in a senior infrastructure, systems, network, cloud, or infrastructure architect/engineering role. · Strong hands-on experience with Azure and/or Google Cloud, including compute, storage, networking, IAM, monitoring, backup, and security. · Strong enterprise networking knowledge covering routing, switching, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, wireless, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity. · Advanced Windows Server and Linux administration, Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and core infrastructure services. · Strong experience with VMware, Hyper-V, and/or ESXi. · Proven experience managing physical and virtual servers, storage, data center infrastructure, and enterprise platforms. · Experience with automation & IaC such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python. · Knowledge with Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, ELK, or equivalent. · Strong understanding of infrastructure security, hardening, IAM, MFA, segmentation, patching, vulnerability management, and secure configuration. · Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD concepts is preferred. Preferred Certifications: · Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) and/or Azure Solutions Architect Expert. · Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700) is an advantage. · Google Cloud certification or equivalent. · Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent networking certification. · VMware VCP or equivalent virtualization certification. · Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE or equivalent Linux certification. · ITIL 4 Foundation or equivalent service management certification. Preferred Skills: · Strong technical leadership and ownership mindset. · Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, including complex cross-domain infrastructure issues. · Able to work independently and make sound technical decisions in production environments. · Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders. · Strong documentation and change-management discipline. · Proactive mindset focused on automation, resilience, standardization, and continuous improvement.
