Why Epicured?
Epicured is on a mission to combat and prevent chronic disease, translating scientific research into high-quality food products for patients nationwide. Our evidence-based approach brings the best of the clinical and culinary worlds together to help people eat better, feel better, and live better one meal at a time.
By joining our team, you’ll contribute to meaningful initiatives at the intersection of food, healthcare, and technology — helping to improve access, reduce complexity, and directly impact the lives of people managing chronic health conditions.
About the Role
We're looking for an HR Manager to be the on-site leader for our Staten Island production facility. You'll own employee relations, investigations, and employment-law compliance for a large, multi-shift hourly workforce. You'll also partner with leadership to build a workplace where people are treated with respect, held to clear and consistent standards, and given real opportunities to grow.
This is a visible, hands-on role. You'll be on the floor, credible with frontline employees and senior leaders alike, and trusted to make sound, well-documented decisions when the stakes are high. The right person is equally comfortable closing out a complex investigation in the morning and launching a career pathway for line employees in the afternoon. This role reports to the SVP, Head of People & HR Operations for Epicured and will oversee the HR Assistant onsite.
What You'll Do
Culture, Development, and Retention
- Build comprehensive onboarding with our GM that sets new hires up to succeed, delivered in both English and Spanish.
- With the support and guidance of the GM and SVP of People, co-create pathways for hourly employees to grow, including cross-training, lead and supervisor development, and internal promotion.
- Conduct training for supervisors on respectful, effective frontline leadership, and model it every day on the floor.
- Build trusted channels for employees to raise concerns early, and make sure they hear back.
- Recognize and reinforce the behaviors that make this a great place to work.
Employee Relations and Investigations
- Own the full investigation process from intake through documented resolution: interviews, evidence gathering, credibility assessment, findings, and corrective action. Matters include harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace conduct, safety, attendance, and policy violations.
- Conduct interviews and deliver outcomes with clear, accurate, defensible documentation in both.
- Make and recommend interim measures (such as schedule changes or administrative leave) to protect employees and the integrity of an investigation.
- Lead de-escalation and workplace-safety concerns, following established protocols.
- Coach supervisors and managers on progressive discipline, performance management, and difficult conversations, and hold them to consistent standards.
- Handle grievances, complaints, escalations, and separations with discretion, fairness, care, and consistency.
- Track trends in complaints, discipline, attendance, and turnover to address root causes.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, New York State, and New York City employment laws
- Maintain compliant policies, postings, and required training (including annual NYS/NYC sexual harassment prevention training) in English and Spanish.
- Manage I-9 compliance, personnel records, and audit readiness.
- Partner with Operations and EHS on OSHA recordkeeping, workers' compensation, return-to-work, reasonable accommodation, and, where applicable, the NYS Warehouse Worker Protection Act.
HR Operations
- Oversee recruiting and hiring for production roles.
- Administer benefits, leaves, and accommodations, and partner with Payroll to ensure accurate, on-time pay.
- Maintain HRIS data integrity and produce regular reporting on headcount, turnover, investigations, and compliance.
- Supervise and develop our HR Assistant.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Labor Relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years leading employee relations and investigations in a manufacturing, food production, warehouse, or distribution environment with a large hourly, multi-shift workforce
- Professional fluency in English and Spanish, spoken and written
- Working knowledge of New York State and New York City employment law
- Proven ability to manage a high volume of work with sound judgment and thorough documentation

- Genuine commitment to employee development, and the credibility to build trust with frontline employees
- Comfort working on the production floor and covering multiple shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed
