EOE POSITION SUMMARY: The HR Generalist will be responsible for the overall support to the human resources department based on organizational and departmental needs. Daily, the HR Generalist will be responsible to work both independently and as a team player to effectively and efficiently manage the daily responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, recruitment, on-boarding, data base management, file audits and accurate record keeping, as well as a liaison for employees and management. The HR Generalist must exhibit and possess strong organizational skills, inter-personal skills, detailed orientated strategies and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. The HR Generalist must have an out-going friendly personality and strive on multitasking, while properly exercising a professionalism and employee/ employer confidentiality practices. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to): Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and certifications. Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Works closely with the Associate Director of Human Resources & Compliance on background checks, clearances and employee eligibility verifications. Implements new hire orientation and on-boarding programs. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. As needed, at the request and direction of the Human Resources Director, Associate Director of Human Resources & Compliance and Administration attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to) continued: Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Performs personnel file maintenance, audit and files documents appropriately. Assists employees with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures as needed. Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new-hire orientations, and exit interviews, including data entry in human resources information systems (HRIS) and audits for accuracy and compliance. Assist with the management, organization and collection of annual employee performance reviews. Respond to all verifications of employment and third-party requests in a timely manner. Coordinate, schedule interviews, meetings and maintains department calendar as applicable. Responsible for the preparation, coordination and dissemination of all HR related materials and handouts. Coordinate, schedule and attend local hiring recruitment events. Responds to all communications including telephone, email, and other oral and written inquiries in a timely manner. Create, maintain, and organize personnel records (physical and electronic) with HR regulations and I9 forms in accordance with employment law requirements Provide support for employee terminations, including scheduling exit interviews, and creating termination letters. Compile and prepare reports from the HRIS and other HR databases Attends trainings as needed and keep up to date with current HR trends and best practices. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. JOB QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required or High School diploma and a minimum of eight years of experience in human resources. Minimum of two years’ of human resource management experience, required Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 3 years plus, of experience and knowledge of Human Resources Information Software, such as; ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, Kronos etc.. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Thorough knowledge of Federal, State and City employment-related laws and regulations. Ability to demonstrate professional excellent and employee rapport Proficiency in basic computer usage, i.e., Windows, Microsoft Suite, Google Apps (drive, sheets, docs) etc. Demonstrate the ability to effectively conduct and complete work independently. Willing to take initiative and be flexible when needed. Excels working in a collaborative environment to achieve target objects and outcomes. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need. Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc. Position is in a well-lighted office environment. Involves sitting approximately 80% of the day, walking or standing the remainder. May include travel to a variety of locations, based on departmental and organizational needs. Which is reimbursed in accordance with UAU’s fiscal policies and procedures. Also requires a reliable mode of transportation. May include working prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
