HR & Operations Manager

We are seeking an HR & Operations Manager to steward the day-to-day systems and processes that support EGC’s employees and workplace. You will manage the systems that support employees throughout their time at EGC and help keep the workplace functioning with clarity and consistency. The role coordinates closely with outside HR advisors, legal counsel, benefits providers, insurance partners, operational vendors, and the finance team. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys creating clear, dependable systems so people know what to expect and where to go for support. You take satisfaction in current documentation, dependable processes, and complete follow-through. You communicate clearly, exercise steady judgment, and notice where a policy, process, or vendor relationship needs attention before it becomes a larger problem. This is an individual-contributor role reporting to the Executive Director. It is a hybrid position based in Dorchester, with an expectation of in-office presence three days per week. Candidates must be local and able to commute to the office regularly. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES People Operations Manage employee onboarding, offboarding, and employment transitions Administer employee benefits, retirement plans, leave programs, personnel records, and HR systems Coordinate recurring HR rhythms, including performance reviews, employee feedback, and trainings Serve as the primary internal contact for employee HR questions and practical manager support Maintain HR policies and develop procedures that help staff and managers apply them consistently Provide Finance with accurate employee, benefit, deduction, and leave information needed for payroll and help resolve employee payroll questions Coordinate with outside HR advisors, employment counsel, benefits providers, and insurance partners when specialized guidance is needed Workplace Operations, Vendors, and FSP Coordination Manage the recurring systems that support facilities, workplace technology, equipment, shared spaces, and recurring office needs Manage vendors and service providers, including contracts, renewals, service quality, and follow-through Approve operational spending within established authority, confirm that services were received, and coordinate invoice payment with the Bookkeeper Serve as the operational point of contact for fiscally sponsored programs, coordinating onboarding, recurring administrative needs, and connections to Finance or other internal owners Maintain operational calendars for renewals, inspections, insurance, licenses, equipment, and other recurring requirements Identify operational risks early, address routine issues, and elevate concerns that require executive, financial, or legal decisions Policies, Procedures, and Systems Translate organizational policies into clear procedures, workflows, and documentation Maintain and improve EGC's HR and operational platforms, records, calendars, and recurring processes Implement new tools and process improvements within HR and operations, coordinating with the Strategic Projects Manager when an initiative is unusually complex or crosses the organization Partner with the Administrative Manager to ensure routine office activities reflect EGC's workplace systems and standards Ensure employees receive consistent, accessible HR and operational support SKILLS, QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE Experience managing significant HR or operational responsibilities through a formal HR role or an administrative or operations role that absorbed substantial HR work Experience administering employee benefits, leave, personnel records, workplace policies, and recurring HR processes Experience managing facilities, vendors, contracts, workplace technology, or organizational operations Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to implement improvements while sustaining recurring work Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with HRIS platforms such as BambooHR is preferred, along with demonstrated confidence learning and troubleshooting new systems Clear communication and sound judgment with employees, vendors, advisors, and partners Discretion and consistent confidentiality with personnel, compensation, legal, and organizational information CRITICAL QUALITIES Mature Christian faith, as defined by active participation in a local church, agreement with the Apostles' Creed, and a life consistent with the character of a Christian leader described in 1 Timothy 3:1-10 Passion for EGC's mission and a desire to build an organization where staff, ministries, and partners can flourish Cultural humility and the ability to work well across lines of difference A learner's posture marked by curiosity, initiative, and a commitment to continual improvement COMPENSATION We offer an annual salary range of $72,000–$80,000 for this full-time position, depending on experience. This includes medical and dental coverage, a 4% retirement contribution after one year, four weeks of vacation annually, and a sabbatical policy rewarding long-term commitment. This is a full-time, non-exempt, individual-contributor role reporting to the Executive Director. It is a hybrid position based in Dorchester, with an expectation of in-office presence three full workdays per week. Candidates must be local and able to commute to the office regularly.
