POSITION SUMMARY The Hospitality Operations Manager is the Director of Hospitality's true right hand — the person who turns strategy into consistent, scalable execution across every Headlands Brewing venue - currently 4, soon-to-be 5, and more on the way! This role owns the systems that hold the hospitality organization together: SOPs, steps of service, reporting, and cross-venue ways of working. Beyond execution, this person is a key driver of hospitality culture — the standard-bearer for what “great service” looks like at Headlands, and the person GMs and staff look to for clarity on how things should be done. The ideal candidate combines hands-on hospitality instincts with the organizational rigor to build systems that scale. RESPONSIBILITIES Steps of Service & Standards Ownership Owns the design, documentation, and rollout of Headlands’ steps of service across all venues Partners with the Director and General Managers to define what “great” looks like at each stage of the guest journey, then builds the training and audit tools to make it repeatable Leads regular in-venue audits and coaching to close the gap between documented standards and daily execution SOPs & Ways of Working Owns the development, implementation, and maintenance of the SOP library across all venues Serves as the central point of accountability for keeping SOPs current, consistent, and actually used Identifies where ways of working differ venue-to-venue and drives standardization where it strengthens the guest and employee experience Operational Reporting & Systems Owns the systems and reporting behind the Hospitality Scorecard, ensuring leadership and GMs have timely, accurate visibility into sales, labor efficiency, guest satisfaction, product mix, margin, and other key operating metrics Audits software platforms (POS, inventory, scheduling) to ensure best-practice usage and consistency across venues Identifies recurring operational friction across venues and builds systems, tools, or processes to eliminate it Project Management Leads cross-venue hospitality projects and operational rollouts, particularly initiatives involving multiple locations, departments, or significant changes to Headlands’ ways of working Tracks, analyzes, and reports results against established targets, driving continuous improvement Communication & Coordination Acts as the Director’s right hand and primary liaison to General Managers, Culinary, Events, and other departments Runs key cross-functional meetings, ensuring action items and deadlines are tracked to completion Owns communication of new policies, standards, and initiatives across the organization Training & Development Owns the design and continuous improvement of Headlands’ hospitality training system, from new-hire onboarding through ongoing development Builds role-specific training programs, certification/checkoff tools, and manager resources that make Headlands standards teachable and repeatable Partners with General Managers to ensure training is consistently executed across venues and measures whether training is translating into better employee and guest experiences Helps build the development pathways that prepare high-performing employees for Shift Lead, Assistant Manager, and General Manager roles Culture Drives hospitality culture across venues — the person staff associate with “how we do things here” Partners with HR on performance management tools and processes Scalability Builds the systems, documentation, and training infrastructure needed for Headlands to open and integrate new venues without losing consistency Recommends where the hospitality organization needs additional structure or headcount as it grows REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS Required Work experience — 5+ years in a hospitality operations, training, or multi-unit support role (restaurant, taproom, or hotel experience preferred); demonstrated ownership of SOPs, training programs, or steps-of-service standards at a multi-location business Knowledge required — SOP development, training systems, and steps-of-service standards; POS/inventory systems (Toast) a plus Technical skills — Google Workspace and project management tools (e.g., Asana, Slack) Analytical skills — Comfortable building and reading KPI/scorecard reporting across sales, labor efficiency, guest satisfaction, and margin Communication skills — Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to General Managers and leadership Preferred (not required) Experience with POS and inventory management systems (e.g., Toast) Prior experience building or scaling standard operating procedures across multiple locations Familiarity with hospitality compliance and health/safety standards PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT Physical demands — Able to stand and walk for extended periods during site visits, audits, or events Work environment — Works across taproom and production environments; regular travel between venues, including occasional exposure to production/warehouse conditions at the Pittsburg facility Schedule demands — Regular travel between, and working at, all Headlands locations; occasional evening and weekend availability for events or urgent operational needs; regular attendance of weekly and bi-monthly all-hands meetings COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Full-Time, include: Health, Dental, Paid Time Off, 401(k) with generous company match, 50% discount on everything at Headlands retail locations, plus great food & beer!
