# Health & Safety Manager **Diamond Project Safety Consultants** · Westhoughton BL5 1EE · `On-site` 🕒 **Статус:** *Опубликовано: вчера* · *Источник: Indeed* --- ### About the Role Diamond Health & Safety is seeking an experienced freelance Health & Safety Consultant to provide independent health and safety assurance on a large-scale construction project for one of our key clients. The consultant will work alongside the client project team, Principal Contractor and wider supply chain to monitor, review and provide assurance of health and safety performance throughout the construction phase. This is an assurance and client-facing role rather than an appointment to manage health and safety on behalf of the Principal Contractor. The successful consultant will therefore need to be comfortable challenging standards, identifying risk, influencing contractors and providing clear, professional advice to the client team. Key Responsibilities Conducting regular site health & safety assurance inspections and audits, including inspections relating to high-risk construction activities. Reviewing contractor RAMS and other health & safety documentation for suitability, adequacy and project-specific content. Monitoring implementation of agreed control measures and identifying deficiencies or non-compliance. Identifying unsafe conditions, acts and behaviours and recording both at-risk and positive safety observations. Raising, assigning and monitoring health & safety actions through the client’s digital reporting system, ensuring actions are supported by appropriate close-out evidence. Monitoring action owners and driving timely closure of safety actions. Supporting the reporting, review and investigation of incidents, near misses and other safety events, ensuring required processes and timescales are followed. Completing all required weekly and scheduled H&S inspections and assurance deliverables within the required timescales and to a high standard. Validating and reporting weekly site working hours and workforce/headcount information. Organising and leading weekly project Health & Safety coordination meetings, recording minutes and ensuring resulting actions are assigned and progressed. Reviewing upcoming construction activities and two-week lookaheads to identify emerging risks, resource requirements, high-risk activities and potential interface issues. Monitoring high-risk operations and, where applicable, associated permit-to-work arrangements. Liaising closely with the client project team, Principal Contractor, subcontractors, vendors and other key stakeholders. Promptly escalating significant risks, repeated non-conformances or failures to implement appropriate controls. Supporting client leadership safety walks and other project safety initiatives. Maintaining accurate and timely records within the client’s digital H&S management platform. Identifying good practice, recurring trends and opportunities for continuous improvement. Experience & Qualifications Minimum 7 years’ Health & Safety experience, with significant experience in construction. Experience working on large-scale, complex or fast-paced construction projects. A recognised Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6 or equivalent. Strong knowledge of UK construction health & safety legislation and good industry practice. Strong experience reviewing RAMS, construction activities and contractor H&S arrangements. Experience conducting formal H&S inspections and audits. Good understanding of high-risk construction activities including work at height, lifting operations, temporary works, electrical safety, plant and machinery, excavations and similar activities. Strong written reporting and IT skills, including confidence using web-based H&S management systems. Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills. Previous experience working within a client-side assurance role or on projects involving multiple contractors and stakeholders would be particularly advantageous. The Person We’re Looking For This role would suit someone who is proactive rather than reactive. We are looking for consultants who can walk a project, understand what is happening and identify emerging risk rather than simply record obvious non-compliances. You should be comfortable challenging contractors professionally while maintaining strong working relationships with the wider project team. Just as importantly, the role requires someone who is highly organised and reliable with deliverables. Inspections, meeting minutes, actions, reporting and other project requirements must be completed consistently and within the required timescales. Successful consultants will receive: Project-specific onboarding and familiarisation. Training in the client’s standards, processes and digital reporting systems. Ongoing support from Diamond’s management team. Access to established templates, guidance and project processes. Regular communication and technical support throughout the appointment. Potential opportunities for continued work across our wider project portfolio. Application Please send an up-to-date CV outlining your relevant construction Health & Safety experience, qualifications, availability Pay: £300.00 per day Work Location: In person
