JGroup is a Dubai-based holding company building technology ventures across advertising, fintech and business communications in the MENA region.

About the Role

We are seeking a Head of Software Development to lead the creation of a new platform, from architecture through to delivery. You will set the technical direction, build the engineering team and remain actively involved in development.

This role suits a technical leader who enjoys building products from the ground up and working closely with the founder on product strategy and roadmap decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and develop a scalable, multi-tenant SaaS platform.
• Design reliable, high-volume, event-driven systems, including queues, webhooks, retries and delivery tracking, targeting 99.9% uptime.
• Lead integrations with third-party platforms and APIs, including Meta, Google, CRMs, e-commerce platforms and MENA payment providers.
• Develop usage-based billing and metering capabilities.
• Recruit, lead and develop backend, frontend and mobile engineers.
• Own platform security, data privacy and compliance requirements, including UAE and Saudi PDPL.
• Partner with the founder to define the product roadmap and translate priorities into technical delivery.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of software engineering experience, including 3 years leading engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on backend expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Redis and message queues such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or SQS.
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud infrastructure, Docker and CI/CD.
• Proven experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms with billing and usage metering.
• Production experience with high-volume, real-time APIs.
• A track record of delivering products efficiently with small teams.
• Strong communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.

Preferred Experience

• Experience within a CPaaS, SaaS or API-first business.
• Hands-on experience with Meta platform APIs or partner programmes.
• Experience developing LLM-powered products or conversational AI solutions.
