Head of Promotional & Custom Products (B2B Division Builder)
Projected OTE Year #1 $155,000 ++
The Mission: Take the Keys to a Brand-New Division
Most sales jobs hand you an established book of business, a worn-out territory, and a rigid playbook written ten years ago.
This is not that job.
At OrangeOnions, we hold powerhouse licensing rights across NCAA collegiate athletics, NASCAR, and major household brands . We create viral, category-defining consumer products—like our patented Snugible™ (the 2-in-1 plush pillow and hoodie), custom plush mascots, and high-impact fan gear.
Now, we are opening the gates to an entirely new frontier: Promotional, Custom, and Corporate B2B Products .
We need a relentless, business-minded builder to take total ownership of this division from Day 1. You will start on the front lines—hunting down deals, working the floor at major trade shows, and proving out profitable verticals. As revenue scales, you will build the sales infrastructure, recruit your own roster of sales reps, and run the division as your own profit center.
The Reality Check (Who You Really Are)
Building a division from zero is exhilarating, high-upside work—but it is not easy. There is no automated pipeline or endless flow of warm inbound leads waiting for you.
- You are an unapologetic hunter. You thrive on picking up the phone, running multi-touch outbound campaigns, and breaking into accounts that currently buy from traditional, boring promotional vendors.
- You are scrappy and agile. You don't freeze if a pitch deck isn't ready. You jump on the phone with our designers, get a custom virtual mock-up generated, and close the prospect while your competitors are still drafting an introductory email.
- You love the thrill of live events. You come alive on trade show floors, turning passing handshakes into high-ticket purchase orders.
- You want direct financial alignment. You want your income directly tied to the gross margin and revenue you bring in, backed by an uncapped commission plan that rewards aggressive growth.
Where You Will Take Our Products
You aren't selling generic pens or cheap branded mugs. You are offering proprietary, viral, premium custom merchandise that decision-makers actually want to keep. Your primary hunting grounds will include:
- Major Industry Trade Shows & Events: PPAI Expo, ASI Shows, sports licensing conventions, and industry expos where you will showcase physical product lines and secure enterprise buyers.
- Promotional Product Distributors (ASI / PPAI Networks): Partnering with the top 1% of promotional brokers who need fresh, patented ideas for their Fortune 500 accounts.
- Corporate & Event Gifting: Executive retreats, national sales kickoffs, high-profile holiday packages, and client appreciation campaigns.
- Collegiate & Athletic Booster Clubs: Custom alumni gifting, stadium giveaways, mascot plush promotions, and NIL athletic initiatives.
- Destination Venues & Festivals: Music festivals, motorsports tracks, and large-scale entertainment events requiring custom branded merchandise runs.
Your Roadmap: From Ground Zero to Division LeaderPhase 1: Hunt, Validate, and Close (Months 1–6)
- Pick up the phone daily, build your outbound lists in HubSpot, and initiate high-impact outreach to corporate buyers and promotional distributors.
- Pack your bags for key trade shows with physical samples in hand—own the floor, run booth demos, and aggressively follow up on leads to lock in purchase orders.
- Work closely with our in-house product and design teams to develop custom concepts, quote minimum order quantities (MOQs), and secure your first marquee client wins.
Phase 2: Systematize the Playbook (Months 6–12)
- Identify which verticals produce the highest average order value (AOV) and strongest repeat order rates.
- Build the official B2B promotional sales playbook: pricing tiers, custom sample workflows, objection handling, and email sequences.
- Lock down recurring annual contracts with corporate buyers and promotional brokers.
Phase 3: Build & Lead Your Sales Team (Year 2+)
- Hit defined divisional revenue targets that unlock your hiring budget.
- Recruit, train, and manage Junior Account Executives and Sales Development Reps (SDRs) to work under your leadership.
- Transition from frontline hunter to division leader, earning team-level performance bonuses alongside your existing commission base.
What We Are Looking For
- 3–5+ years of B2B hunting experience , with verifiable success in promotional products (ASI/PPAI), custom apparel/merchandise, licensed goods, or corporate gifting.
- Trade Show Savvy: Proven ability to work an event floor, qualify high-value buyers on the spot, and execute post-show pipeline follow-up that converts to real revenue.
- Verified Quota Overperformance: A consistent track record of exceeding outbound revenue goals (bring your numbers to the interview).
- Deep Business Sense: Solid understanding of margin health, MOQs, production lead times, and custom product development.
- Entrepreneurial Grit: The appetite to work directly with executive leadership, roll up your sleeves, and build an operation from scratch.
- Tech Discipline: Daily operational competence in HubSpot (or a comparable CRM) and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
What’s in It for You
- Competitive Base Salary: Solid financial stability while you ramp up.
- Aggressive, Uncapped Commission: Direct payout on every dollar of revenue and gross margin you deliver. Your upside is strictly limited by your drive.
