Head of Projects Department

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and manage the Projects Department and project teams.
• Manage projects from contract handover to final account (including installation, testing, commissioning, and handover).
• Ensure project delivery within approved budgets, schedules, specifications, and quality standards.
• Oversee engineering coordination, shop drawings, procurement, and material delivery.
• Ensure compliance with UAE Civil Defense requirements and international fire protection standards.
• Control project costs, cash flow, and profitability.
• Manage variations, claims, retention recovery, and final account settlements.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and payment recommendations.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities.
• Resolve escalated technical, operational, and commercial issues.
• Represent FIREX in senior-level meetings and support contract negotiations.
• Improve departmental efficiency, project controls, and client satisfaction.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• A postgraduate qualification in Engineering Management, Construction Management, or Business Administration is an advantage.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification is preferred.

Professional Experience:

• More than 10 years of relevant experience in Fire Fighting, Fire Alarm, Fire Protection, or MEP project management.
• Minimum 5 years in a senior management or departmental leadership position.
• Strong experience in the UAE construction and fire protection industry.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously across different locations.
• Demonstrated experience in project execution, financial control, profitability management, and commercial administration.
• Proven ability to manage project delays, resource constraints, subcontractors, and complex contractual requirements.
• Experience coordinating with UAE Civil Defense, consultants, main contractors, and developers.
• Previous experience as Head of Projects, Projects Director, Operations Manager, or Senior Projects Manager within the Fire Protection or MEP industry is strongly preferred.
