Head of Philanthropy

For our client, we are seeking a Head of Philanthropy to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space.

This role will guide a major giving strategy focused on building long-term philanthropic support for the organization’s global health mission. The position is responsible for strengthening fundraising operations, deepening donor relationships, and translating complex scientific and technical work into compelling narratives that inspire investment. You will partner closely with executive leadership and manage a small team to drive a high-impact philanthropy function with clear goals and disciplined stewardship.

Location: Remote

Compensation: $230,000 – $260,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead and enhance the individual and family giving strategy and operations
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors to secure significant gifts
• Collaborate with executive leadership to align philanthropy with organizational priorities
• Manage a team of about six, shaping their priorities and methodologies
• Develop and implement systems for effective donor engagement and stewardship
• Translate scientific and technical information into impactful funding proposals
• Drive the overall philanthropy function with a dedicated budget

Qualifications

• 10+ years in major or principal gifts fundraising with a record of closing seven-figure donations
• Proven experience in building and improving development functions and team leadership
• In-depth knowledge of individual and family philanthropy, including various funding structures
• Strong analytical skills in fundraising data management and prospect research
• Ability to translate complex scientific and technical concepts into compelling donor narratives
• Exceptional communication skills for engaging with high-level donors
• Experience navigating complex organizational dynamics with diplomacy
• Commitment to global health equity and mission alignment
