The Last Mile The Last Mile is a specialist provider of traffic, transport and pedestrian management services to events and venues. Head of Operations We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Operations to join us on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for: - Managing the Operations Department and mentoring multiple direct reports - Managing assigned events from initial planning through to seamless on-site delivery, ensuring all objectives are met on time and within budget - Overseeing our operations at events, ensuring that our plans are delivered to a high standard and our workforce are properly briefed and looked after - Building a strong rapport with clients and stakeholders, including managing enquiries, client accounts and preparing quotes - Preparing operational plans, briefing documents and traffic plans, including CAD drawings Salary £50,000 - £60,000 per annum depending on experience Contract Full-Time Department Operations Reports to Director Probation 6 months Place of Work Highbury (N5) on office days and on-site at various event locations within Greater London. There will be occasional travel required to events outside of London. Working Days & Hours The candidate will need to be flexible to work as required operationally to support on site at events. It is expected the role will be site based 2 weekends per month. The working pattern will regularly involve weekends, evenings and shifts ranging from 12-16 hours. There will be a requirement for the candidate to be on-call for out of hours work. Travel Candidates must be able to travel to and from the office and event sites within Greater London. Travel and accommodation will be provided for jobs located outside of London only. Candidate Requirements Candidates must: - Be passionate about events - Have experience in event management and working with crowds - Have experience managing direct reports and large teams of casual staff - Have an interest in event traffic, transport and pedestrian management - Be over the age of 25, with a valid UK driving licence and no more than 3 penalty points - Be able to drive a company van, and keep the van overnight between assignments - Be able to reliably commute to the office and event sites located within Greater London - Be willing to work weekends and long hours - Have an understanding of health and safety procedures. A safety qualification is preferable but not essential - Be a strong communicator, and proficient in the use of MS Office and Google Docs Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year Ability to commute/relocate: London N5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required) Application question(s): Candidates must upload a cover letter that states their suitability for the role.
