Our client is a well-established commercial insurance broker in Ireland with international backing, pairing strong insurer relationships and specialist resources with the agility and close-knit culture of a growing local team. They are appointing a Head of Financial Lines to take ownership of the portfolio, lead a team of brokers and shape the next stage of the department's growth alongside senior leadership.

The Job

• Genuine ownership: lead an established Financial Lines portfolio with a clear mandate and leadership backing to grow it
• Your own team: manage, mentor and develop a team of brokers
• Real influence: work directly with senior leadership on the direction of the department
• Strong market access: the insurer relationships and resources to place complex, high-value risks with confidence

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Financial Lines portfolio, personally managing the department's larger and more complex clients
• Assess and place high-value professional indemnity and financial lines risks for professional services, healthcare, construction and financial institution clients
• Drive new business by sourcing, quoting and converting new commercial opportunities
• Own income retention, new business, cross-sell and referral targets for the department
• Maintain strong commercial discipline across premium collection and aged debt
• Manage, mentor and develop your brokers and support account handlers on client matters
• Partner with senior leadership to build a market-leading Financial Lines function
• Contribute to the wider commercial team's objectives and targets

The Person

• At least 5 years' experience in Financial Lines, ideally within the Irish market
• CIP qualified, ideally progressing towards MDI or ACII (study support available)
• Strong technical and product knowledge across professional indemnity and wider financial lines
• A proven client relationship track record and the confidence to negotiate the balance between price and risk
• A sound understanding of the Irish commercial insurance and regulatory environment
• A self-motivated, organised approach, comfortable balancing competing priorities and adapting to change
• Leadership ambition, whether you already manage people or are ready to step up
• Compliant with the Central Bank's Minimum Competency Code and Fitness & Probity requirements
