Head Accountant

Role Description The Head Accountant will oversee all core accounting functions, including general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable, payroll review, and monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities. This full-time role involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, monitoring compliance with local regulations and internal policies, and coordinating audits and tax filings. The Head Accountant will develop and improve accounting processes, implement internal controls, and provide financial analysis and reporting to support management decisions. The role includes supervising and mentoring accounting team members, assigning tasks, and ensuring accurate, timely completion of work. This is a hybrid role based in Kazakhstan, combining on-site collaboration with the flexibility to perform some responsibilities from home.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and local tax regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, along with advanced skills in spreadsheets and financial analysis tools.
• Experience leading or supervising accounting teams, including task planning, performance guidance, and workload management.
• Ability to design and maintain internal controls, optimize accounting processes, and ensure accuracy and reliability of financial data.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications (such as CPA or regional equivalent) are an advantage.
• Experience in consulting, professional services, or multi-client environments is beneficial, as is familiarity with hybrid work arrangements.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating integrity, accountability, and respect for diverse perspectives.
