Summary/Objective The Government Account Manager will lead Friant’s contract sales strategy across public sector and cooperative markets. Acting as the company’s point person for government contract sales, this role will own the growth, adoption, and expansion of Friant’s contracts in targeted regions and nationally. The Manager will partner closely with Sales Directors, dealers, and the Marketing team to create demand, build relationships, and convert contract opportunities into revenue. While supported by a contract management resource for back-end tasks, this role is accountable for driving the front-end sales execution, growth strategies, and results. The Government Account Manager will be recognized as Friant’s sales-side expert on government contracts, owning the strategy, execution, and outcomes tied to contract-driven revenue. Success will be measured by contract adoption in the field, dealer and sales team engagement, and consistent year-over-year growth in public sector sales. Responsibilities Serve as the go-to sales lead for all government contract opportunities, guiding sales representatives and dealers on contract positioning, eligibility, and competitive advantages. Actively pursue new sales opportunities by leveraging existing contracts and securing new ones through state, cooperative, and national vehicles. Expand contract success in initial key markets to additional sales territories, ensuring consistent adoption and revenue growth. Build and maintain relationships with dealers, sales reps, and end-users to drive contract utilization and loyalty. Develop and implement sales growth strategies in partnership with Sales Directors and Marketing, targeting high-potential territories and accounts. Deliver training and resources to equip sales teams and dealers with a full understanding of contract offerings, enabling them to win new business. Provide ongoing coaching and best practices to ensure contracts are positioned as a strategic sales tool across the organization. Monitor RFQs, government spend data, and cooperative purchasing opportunities to identify and act on new leads. Conduct competitive analysis and market research to anticipate opportunities, assess ROI, and guide decision-making. Present timely, curated information to sales reps and dealers (e.g., top contract users in their region, decision-maker lists, seasonal peaks in government spend). Establish and track sales metrics tied to government contract performance. Regularly evaluate outcomes, adjust strategies, and report progress to leadership. Partner with Marketing to ensure effective contract promotion across digital channels, events, and campaigns. Collaborate and utilize the support resource for contract management, ensuring back-end processes (risk reviews, compliance documentation, scheduling, etc.) align with the sales strategy. Maintain ownership of sales execution and revenue outcomes while delegating project administration tasks appropriately. Competencies Proven track record in sales management, preferably within public sector, cooperative, or contract-based markets. Strong knowledge of government procurement processes and ability to navigate complex contract requirements. Experience building dealer and sales team engagement with contract programs. Excellent communication, training, and relationship management skills. Analytical ability to interpret market intelligence and apply insights to sales growth. Highly driven, accountable, and proactive in pursuing business development opportunities. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Sales, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience in government contract sales, account management, or related vertical markets will be considered in lieu of a degree.
