This role involves assessing insurance risks across various lines, providing underwriting decisions, and collaborating closely with clients, brokers, and insurers to ensure profitable and compliant policy placements. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Attested certificate required) Experience: Minimum 3 years in general underwriting (attested experience certificate preferred) Preferred Background: Experience in insurance brokerage or underwriting departments of insurers Technical Skills: Knowledge of underwriting principles across multiple lines (e.g., property, casualty, marine, motor) Familiarity with risk assessment, policy wording, and pricing methodologies Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements Soft Skills: Strong analytical and decision-making skills Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities Ability to negotiate and build relationships with clients, brokers, and insurers Key Responsibilities Assess and underwrite insurance applications across multiple lines including property, casualty, motor, and liability. Analyze risk exposures and supporting documentation to determine underwriting decisions and premium rates. Work closely with insurers to negotiate underwriting terms, clarify risk details, and ensure alignment with policy requirements. Negotiate underwriting terms and conditions with insurers on behalf of clients. Ensure all underwriting complies with internal guidelines, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance products, market trends, and competitor offerings. Support claims teams by reviewing complex or disputed claims where underwriting decisions may impact outcomes. Build and maintain strong relationships with insurers, clients, brokers, and internal teams. Identify and communicate emerging risks and trends to relevant stakeholders. Monitor compliance with underwriting standards, internal policies, regulatory requirements, and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulations. Conduct necessary due diligence in line with KYC (Know Your Customer) policies to verify client identities and detect potential financial crime risks.
