In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting financial reporting processes. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of our financial data, facilitate accurate financial analysis, and uphold the highest standards of accounting practices. Duties Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements. Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing activities. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of accounts receivable and accounts payable records. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts to inform strategic decision-making. Oversee compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and other regulatory standards relevant to nonprofit or governmental accounting environments. Perform bank reconciliations, cash flow analysis, and audit preparations to ensure financial integrity. Utilize financial software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms for data entry, reporting, and analysis. Assist with regulatory reporting requirements including tax filings, securities law compliance, and other statutory obligations. Mentor junior team members in technical accounting concepts like double-entry bookkeeping, VLOOKUP functions in spreadsheets, and financial report writing. Support internal audits by providing detailed account analyses and documentation as needed. Skills Extensive experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or equivalent platforms. Strong knowledge of GAAP standards, technical accounting practices, and financial compliance regulations including SOX. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills including data analysis tools like VLOOKUP functions and spreadsheet management. Demonstrated ability in general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, account analysis, and financial statement preparation. Familiarity with nonprofit accounting principles such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs or governmental accounting standards. Experience with regulatory compliance accounting related to securities law or public accounting environments. Ability to interpret complex financial reports and communicate findings clearly through written reports or presentations. Strong analytical skills for cash flow management, budget forecasting, and financial modeling. Proven mentoring skills to support team development in technical accounting concepts like accrual accounting and debits & credits.
