Job Description The Quality Engineer role is responsible for ensuring an organisation adheres to relevant regulations and best practices in those areas. They conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and internal audits, while also investigating accidents and incidents and creating reports. This role also is responsible for verifying the quality of the manufactured products in accordance with our ISO9001:2015 management system. A Quality Engineer ensures that products, processes and systems meet stringent regulatory standards. Rather than only inspecting the final output, quality engineers participate from early development through to delivery, ensuring quality is built in at every stage. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, pro-active and capable candidate with a confident approach to join a niche engineering firm. : Operations Manager Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities · Design test plans, run inspections, and evaluate raw materials & final assemblies. · Compliance & Auditing: Conduct internal audits and maintain compliance with industry regulations like ISO 9001/AS9100. · Problem Solving & CAPA: Lead root cause investigations (using tools like 5 Whys or FMEA) to manage non-conformances and corrective actions. · Continuous Improvement: Use Lean or Six Sigma methods to reduce waste, lower variation, and optimise efficiency. · Documentation & Training: Write standard operating procedures (SOPs), track quality metrics, and train production staff. · Risk Assessments: Conducting thorough risk assessments of workplace activities and processes. · Documentation: Maintaining and updating QHSE documentation, including procedures, policies, and records. · Communication: Communicating QHSE information to employees, management, and external stakeholders. Supporting external audits and customer reviews · Driving improvements across production and engineering teams Education and Experience · Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related engineering field is desirable. · Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and reading technical drawings. · Certifications: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt are strong advantages. · Strong analytical thinking, cross-functional communication, and structured problem-solving skills. · 1-3 years’ experience in a similar role and industry (chemical manufacturing industry) · Excellent attention to detail. · Proven organisational and time management skills. · Ability to analyse complex situations and solve problems; demonstrated ability to make sound decisions. · Ability to multi-task, adapt and take initiative. · High tolerance for a fast pace working environment. · Proficient with MS Office suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint, etc.). · Ability to learn new systems and software with ease (eg. ERP system). · Ability to maintain constant communication and collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., operations, customer service, etc.). Key Competencies · Ability to learn detailed technical information and be able to interpret complex requirements. · Self-motivated · Outstanding communication skills · Competent IT skills · Must have own car and Full UK licence. · Candidates will be background checked and security vetted. Compensation and location · Starting salary £30,000 per annum, 25 days annual leave, pension · Full Time, 38hrs pw · Location – Trusley, Derbyshire, UK · Appointment will be subject to satisfactory completion of 6-month probationary period.
