Love talking with people about design, color, and art? Hope & Feathers is a custom framing and print shop in Northampton. We’re a small team of hard-working, design-minded people who care about art, our customers, and doing things well. We’re looking for a full-time designer who loves working with people and has a great eye. What you’ll do This is primarily a customer-facing sales role. Most of your time is spent at the design counter working with customers. - Design and sales: Help customers choose frames, mats, and glass for their art, photos, and objects, and provide excellent customer service. - Social media and website: Manage H&F’s online presence by creating content, managing engagement, and keeping the website up to date. - Printing: Assist the print shop with photo restoration and print production. - Graphic design: Collaborate with the marketing team to design online content, signage, and custom projects for customers. - Artist liaison: Work with the local artists we show and sell, and help bring new ones on board. What we’re looking for - Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom) is required - Sales or customer service experience - An eye for design, color, and composition - Experience working with art (as an artist, student, gallery or museum staff, or similar) - Experience running social media accounts, ideally for a business (Instagram especially) - Organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through - Willingness to learn new skills and grow in the role - Able to lift up to 50 pounds and be on your feet and moving around the shop for most of a shift - Bonus: photo editing or photo restoration experience Schedule Full-time. Saturdays required. Pay and Benefits Adobe experience required. Will train the right person. Entry-level pay starts at $23 per hour, and applicants with experience in design, photo editing, sales, and custom framing will be offered higher starting pay. Benefits include a SIMPLE IRA, paid holidays, and PTO.
