We work in demanding live retail and commercial environments where planning, communication, safety, quality and getting the job finished properly are essential. We are looking for an experienced Flooring Project Manager who can take ownership of projects from pre-start through to completion, build strong client relationships and play an active part in growing UFS by developing existing accounts and helping bring new clients into the business. The Role This is a hands-on, client-facing role. You will manage multiple flooring projects at the same time, coordinate site teams and subcontractors, control programmes and costs, and ensure every project is delivered safely, professionally and to the standard expected by UFS and our retail clients. Retail flooring is often completed outside trading hours, so regular overnight stays and night works are a key requirement of the position. The successful candidate must be comfortable travelling nationally and being present on site when the project requires it. Key Responsibilities · Manage flooring projects from handover and pre-start through mobilisation, delivery, snagging, practical completion and close-out. · Plan labour, materials, deliveries, access, phasing and subcontractors to keep projects on programme. · Attend site surveys, pre-start meetings, progress meetings and completion meetings with clients and main contractors. · Maintain a strong site presence, including night visits and overnight stays where required, particularly on critical retail projects. · Ensure site teams work to UFS standards for health & safety, RAMS, housekeeping, quality, communication and client care. · Work closely with the Operations Manager, QS/commercial team, office team, site managers, fitters, suppliers and subcontractors. · Monitor project costs, variations, labour and materials, protecting margin while delivering the right result for the client. · Identify risks early, resolve issues quickly and communicate clearly with both the client and the UFS management team. · Complete regular progress reporting, photographic/site reports, snagging and project close-out documentation. · Build long-term relationships with existing clients and look for opportunities to secure additional works. · Actively support business development by identifying, approaching and helping convert new retail, FM, fit-out and commercial clients. · Represent UFS professionally at all times and help strengthen our reputation for reliable, high-quality project delivery. What We Are Looking For · Proven Project Management experience within flooring, fit-out, retail construction or a closely related sector. · Strong knowledge of commercial flooring installation; experience with vinyl, carpet, subfloor preparation and retail refurbishment is highly desirable. · Experience delivering projects in live retail environments and working around store trading requirements. · Confident managing multiple sites, programmes, site teams and subcontractors simultaneously. · Commercially aware, with a good understanding of project costs, variations, labour, materials and margin. · Excellent client-facing communication skills and the confidence to build relationships at all levels. · A proactive approach to business development and the ability to help generate opportunities with both existing and new clients. · Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to remain calm and decisive when projects change. · Good working knowledge of health & safety requirements within construction and retail environments. · Competent with Microsoft Office and general project reporting systems. · Full UK driving licence. Travel & Working Requirements · National travel is an essential part of the role. · Regular overnight stays will be required. · Night working and occasional weekend attendance will be required to support retail programmes and critical project stages. · Flexibility is essential; this is not a Monday-to-Friday, office-only Project Manager position. What We Offer · Competitive salary, dependent on experience. · Company car. · Performance-related bonus. · Business travel and overnight expenses in line with company policy. · Company phone and laptop. · Opportunity to manage high-profile national retail flooring projects. · A key role in a growing business with genuine opportunity to develop accounts, win new clients and progress with UFS. The Right Person We want someone who takes ownership. The right person will be equally comfortable walking a site at night, speaking with a client, challenging poor standards, solving a programme issue and spotting the next commercial opportunity. You will care about the finish, the client relationship and the profitability of every project you manage. Pay: £60,000.00-£75,000.00 per year Benefits: - Free parking Work Location: Hybrid remote in Wickford
