You will work on motor control, sensor interfaces, communications, and hardware validation that make responsive robotic hardware possible. Requirements: Pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience programming in Rust; embedded Rust experience is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of Rust fundamentals: borrowing, aliasing, async/await, traits, generics, etc. Understanding of microcontrollers, interrupts, timers, DMA, and real-time constraints. Strong understanding of different synchronization primitives. Familiarity with CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, or other embedded communication protocols. Comfort debugging with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD, and serial tools. (+) Experience with Embassy, RTIC, FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar RTOS/async embedded frameworks. (+) Knowledge of BLDC motor control, FOC, current sensing, or encoder interfaces. (+) Experience with CANopen CiA 402, EtherCAT, or bootloaders. Career Growth: Strong potential for full-time conversion after the internship. Develop and debug Rust firmware for motor controllers, sensor interfaces, and embedded communications. Implement and optimize deterministic control loops, state machines, and calibration workflows. Integrate tactile, force, IMU, encoder, and position sensors into real-time embedded systems. Build test utilities and diagnostics for board bring-up, manufacturing checks, and hardware-in-the-loop validation. Collaborate with EE, mechanical, controls, and AI teams to improve system performance and reliability. A Proception employee will reach out directly to schedule additional interviews.
