Fire Safety Operations Manager
J.S.O Fire Safety Consultants Ltd is looking for an experienced Fire Safety Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day delivery of our consultancy work and support the wider technical team. This role is specifically for someone with a strong understanding of fire safety and the ability to manage both people and projects. You will be responsible for coordinating Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Strategy Plans, compartmentation surveys, fire door surveys and other fire safety consultancy work, while also dealing directly with clients and helping ensure projects are delivered efficiently and consistently. Key responsibilities will include: Overseeing the day-to-day workload of the fire safety team. Coordinating Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Strategy Plans, compartmentation surveys, fire door surveys and associated consultancy works. Allocating projects to suitable team members based on competence, workload and programme requirements. Monitoring project progress, deadlines and reporting requirements. Acting as a senior point of contact for clients throughout project delivery. Managing client queries, programme changes and operational issues. Supporting the Directors with the overall management and growth of the business. Reviewing upcoming workloads and ensuring sufficient resource is available. Monitoring team productivity, utilisation and performance. Supporting technical staff with operational and client-related issues. Ensuring work is delivered consistently and in line with internal QA procedures. Helping maintain appropriate fire safety standards across the team. Coordinating remedial follow-up works arising from Fire Risk Assessments and surveys. Supporting the management of key client accounts and multi-site programmes. Ensuring CRM and project management systems are kept accurate and up to date. Reviewing project scopes and ensuring the right level of resource is allocated. Helping improve internal processes as the business continues to grow. Supporting with complaints, client concerns and technical delivery issues where required. About you We are looking for someone who: Has a strong working knowledge of fire safety. Has previous experience within a fire consultancy, fire risk assessment business, fire protection company, building consultancy or similar environment. Understands Fire Risk Assessments and the practical requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Has a good understanding of fire doors, compartmentation, means of escape, fire alarm systems and general passive and active fire safety measures. Ideally has knowledge of Fire Strategy Plans, Approved Document B, BS 9991 and other relevant fire safety guidance. Has experience managing fire safety projects or programmes. Is confident managing technical staff and coordinating workloads. Is comfortable dealing directly with clients, contractors, managing agents and property professionals. Can identify when an issue needs technical escalation rather than simply treating it as an administrative matter. Has strong organisational and problem-solving skills. Is commercially aware and understands the importance of programme, resource and profitability. Has experience using CRM and project management systems. Has strong written and verbal communication skills. Relevant fire safety qualifications or professional memberships would be advantageous. This could include qualifications or membership through organisations such as the IFE, IFSM or equivalent, although practical fire safety knowledge and experience will be equally important. The role This is not a general office-based Operations Manager role. We are looking for someone who understands the fire safety industry and can confidently oversee the delivery of technical fire consultancy work. You will work closely with our Fire Risk Assessors, Fire Engineers, consultants and administration team, ensuring projects are correctly resourced, clients are kept informed and work progresses from instruction through to completion. You will work closely with the Directors but will be expected to take ownership of the operational side of the business and become a key point of contact for both the team and our clients.
