Field Organizer/Canvasser Sought

Position: Field Organizer/Canvasser, Local Progressive Democrat Campaign

Location: Austin, TX

Start Date: Immediately

Type: Full Time

Local Progressive Democrat running for Austin City Council is seeking Field Organizers (FO’s) to join our campaign. Field Organizers will have responsibility for direct voter contact and will be blockwalking and canvassing neighborhoods. FO’s will be canvassing 90% of the time and may also be asked to help out with other campaign events. FOs will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, presentation and communication skills, and interact with members of our community.

Essential Duties:

●Ability to blockwalk 6 days a week, see schedule below

● Direct Voter Contact, including but not limited to door-to-door canvassing, phonebanking,and texting

● Be able to make a pitch and successful convince a voter to support with a yard sign

●Poll greeting and handing out flyers during Early Voting and Election Day

●Light office work and miscellaneous duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications:

●Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

●Ability to canvass and blockwalk for long amounts of time

●Timeliness in attendance to work and completion of tasks on deadline

●Willingness to interact with members of the public coming from diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:

●Experience working or volunteering on electoral, union,or community organizing campaigns

●Reliable vehicle with current registration and insurance

●Public speaking skills

Compensation & Hours: $27/hour

Schedule:

Monday - Thursday: 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Friday - Day off

Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Sunday: 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Total Weekly Hours: 34 minimum

EDIT: Potential for continued work through mid-December in event of runoff election
