Farmers Market Staff
About the Job Farmers’ Market staff are Mei Mei’s brand ambassadors, and are responsible for extending our hospitality everywhere we go. This position is for friendly, dynamic individuals who enjoy working events, talking with people, and are capable of multitasking with a positive attitude. This job is seasonal and can be part-time or full-time. Market seasons are May through October and January through March. You can work one season or stay-on for multiple. Most market shifts are currently 7-8 hours long. Whether you can work 1 shift per week or 5, we offer flexible scheduling. Many of our Farmers’ Market staff also work in dumpling kitchen operations or as class instructors. Job Duties Provide a high level of customer service and information to guests at farmers’ markets Learn about Mei Mei food, sourcing, and cooking techniques to share with guests Set up and breakdown of the market stall including packing & unpacking market equipment and inventory, driving to and from market locations Drive to and from Farmers’ Markets in a company or personal vehicle Report issues, guest feedback and questions Spread the dumpling love! The position requires the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the larger Mei Mei team, farmers’ market staff and volunteers, and fellow market vendors. Applicants must routinely move equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and should be comfortable spending up to five hours at a time in a stationary position and working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. About You Interested in local food and dumplings Possess strong interpersonal skills, exhibiting tact, patience, and courtesy Self-motivated and able to work under limited supervision Able to operate retail tech and responsibly handle a variety of payment methods Resourceful and able to respond to issues that arise creatively, efficiently, and effectively Detailed, organized, and adept at multitasking Able to interpret and follow market rules, local/state safety guidelines, and other pertinent laws/regulations Qualifications and working conditions Valid driver’s license, and comfortable driving in Boston and surrounding areas Weekend availability Smartphone and Square app, for point of sales back-up Able to lift 40 lbs safely ServSafe and/or Allergen Awareness Certification is preferred but not required Compensation The starting wage for this role is $16.50 per hour, and increases with experience Benefits Dumpling pack trade budget, you can trade up to 2 packs every market with other vendors.
