Factory Production Manager (HVAC)

Reporting to: Director / Operations Head Experience: 3 years in a factory manager / plant head role (HVAC, heat pumps, refrigeration, or similar preferred) The Factory Manager will be responsible for end-to-end management of Sunniva Heatpumps’ manufacturing unit, ensuring safe, efficient, and quality-focused production as per monthly and annual business plans. Key responsibilities Plan, organize and control daily production to meet output, quality, and dispatch targets for heat pump products (domestic and commercial). Prepare and execute monthly and weekly production plans in coordination with sales, purchase, and stores, ensuring material availability and minimal line stoppages. Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assembly, brazing, leak testing, charging, electrical testing, and final inspection of heat pumps. Ensure adherence to quality standards, manage in-process and final inspection, and drive reduction in rework, rejection, and field failures. Lead factory manpower: deploy operators across lines, approve shift schedules, monitor productivity, and handle basic IR/HR issues in coordination with HR. Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance of machinery, tools, and test rigs, ensuring high uptime of critical equipment. Drive safety culture on shop floor: enforce PPE usage, safe handling of refrigerants and electrical equipment, and compliance with factory and statutory norms. Monitor and control manufacturing cost: productivity, overtime, scrap, consumables, and utilities; support cost-reduction and efficiency-improvement projects. Maintain accurate production records, WIP, and finished goods data in ERP (e.g., Odoo) and generate daily/weekly/monthly MIS for management. Coordinate with purchase and stores for incoming material planning, GRN issues, and resolution of shortages or quality problems. Support NPD/engineering team during proto builds, pilot runs, and engineering changes; ensure smooth implementation on the line. Ensure housekeeping (5S), layout discipline, and continuous improvement / lean initiatives across the factory. Liaise with external agencies (calibration, statutory inspectors, contractors) and support compliance with all applicable regulations and audits. Required qualifications Diploma / BE in Mechanical, Electrical, Production, or Industrial Engineering (ITI with long experience can be considered for smaller plant). 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably HVAC, refrigeration, or heat pump assembly plants. Strong knowledge of production planning, quality systems, and basic maintenance practices. Working knowledge of ERP systems (preferably Odoo or similar) for production, inventory, and reporting. Good understanding of safety, 5S, and basic lean / continuous improvement tools. Ability to lead and motivate shop-floor teams, handle multi-skill operators, and coordinate with cross-functional departments. Basic MS Excel, email, and documentation skills for MIS, reporting, and communication. Key skills and competencies Strong leadership and people-management skills with a hands-on, on-the-shop-floor approach. Problem-solving mindset for production bottlenecks, quality issues, and resource constraints. Result orientation with focus on on-time delivery, first-pass yield, and cost control. Good communication and coordination skills with management, vendors, and internal teams. Discipline, integrity, and ability to work under pressure in a growing manufacturing setup. KPIs / performance metrics Monthly production vs. plan (units and value).​ First-pass yield, in-process and final rejections, and customer complaints.​ Machine uptime and maintenance compliance. Productivity per person and overtime percentage.​ Safety incidents, near misses, and audit observations.
