Fabrication Operations Manager

General Purpose: Lead the overall performance and continued development of McCarl's heavy industrial fabrication business, including the Aliquippa and Muncy operations, focused on process piping and modular/skid fabrication for the power, oilgas, chemical, and industrial manufacturing markets. This is a business and operations leadership role, with responsibility for integrating customer needs, estimating, project execution, resource planning, technology, and shop production to achieve safe, predictable, and profitable fabrication performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: BusinessFinancial Performance Own execution of the Fabrication Business Plan (including future fabrication units), including revenue, backlog, margin, capacity utilization, productivity, and overall operational performance. TechnologyOperational Improvement Lead implementation and adoption of fabrication technology, automation, MSUITE, digital material tracking, production dashboards, and data-driven planning. Ensure technology investments translate into measurable improvements in productivity, capacity, quality, and cost. EstimatingProject Execution Provide leadership for fabrication estimating, Project Management, and Project Engineering. Serve as the primary fabrication interface with Central Estimating on large multi-craft opportunities and maintain accountability for project cost, schedule, and customer commitments. PlanningProduction Convert backlog and forecasted work into forward-looking capacity, manpower, material, drawing, and production plans across both fabrication facilities. Provide leadership and accountability to shop production management for safety, quality, throughput, productivity, and schedule attainment. Customer Development Maintain and develop relationships with owners, EPCs, mechanical contractors, and other customers within targeted industrial markets. Understand customer needs, identify fabrication-only opportunities, and help build repeat business and sustainable backlog. Organizational Leadership Develop and lead the Fabrication PM, Project Engineering, Procurement, Planning, and Production teams while effectively integrating QA/QC, Safety, Engineering/Design, Coatings, Central Estimating, and other supporting functions. Qualifications: We are seeking a heavy-industrial fabrication operations leader. The ideal candidate will bring: Strong heavy-industrial process piping fabrication and/or mechanical construction experience. Demonstrated leadership of project and production organizations. Experience implementing automation, technology, and production-management systems and driving adoption through measurable results. Strong understanding of estimating, project management, scheduling, resource planning, and financial performance. Ability to develop strong customer relationships and understand fabrication opportunities. Experience with heavy process pipe fabrication is required with modular/skid fabrication and multi-location operations preferred.
