Experienced Gas Engineer (Lead Engineer - Installations)

Ability is looking for an experienced Gas and Heating engineer to join our team. We are an established, family run business serving Kent, Sussex and Surrey for over 45 years. We pride ourselves on providing quality workmanship, looking after our customers and creating a supportive and friendly environment for our engineers.

The successful candidate will lead the installation and replacement of gas boilers and heating systems, working independently and as part of a team, mainly in residential properties with some work in commercial premises. It would suit an experienced installer who takes pride in their work, can manage installations from start to finish and would like opportunities to develop their skills.

What you’ll be doing

• Installing and replacing gas boilers and central heating systems
• Carry out heating system upgrades including radiators, pipework and controls
• Testing, commissioning and handing over completed installations, explaining the system and controls to customers
• Completing installation records and relevant paperwork accurately using our digital job management system.
• Work independently and as part of a team, sharing knowledge and experience to help solve problems and support the development of other engineers

What we’re looking for

• At least 5 years experience in plumbing and heating with a strong background in installations.
• Current ACAS qualifications, including CCN1, CENWAT and CKR1, plus a current G3 qualification for unvented hot water cylinders.
• Valid UK driving license
• The ability to plan and complete installations efficiently with good attention to detail.
• Reliable, organised approach with good communication skills

Desirable but not essential

• OFTEC qualifications and oil installation experience
• LPG qualifications and experience
• Occasional Saturday availability
