This post will work alongside the Events Fundraisers and Events and Community Fundraising Manager to help deliver Ashgate’s varied and excited portfolio of events, including Chesterfield's biggest fundraising event the Sparkle Night Walk. This post will support in the planning and coordination of Hospice events and will support individuals taking on third-party events and challenges. The Events Assistant will be required to lead on various elements of the planning and delivery of all events. A positive, friendly and highly organised individual, the Events Assistant will often be the first face to greet visitors to the Hasland Fundraising Centre, the person responding to email queries or the first voice that they hear on the phone. As such, they will be expected to embody our organisational values at all times. The Events Assistant will be instrumental to supporter journeys, offering regular communication and encouraging them to reach their fundraising goal. They will celebrate supporter's successes by thanking and helping them to understand the difference they have made. About the role: Ashgate Hospice is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer. Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours usually worked Monday to Friday with core working hours being 10:00 am – 2:00 pm however there is a need for flexibility outside of your usual working pattern, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays to support community and events fundraising activity. Key responsibilities: To assist with the planning of Ashgate’s events portfolio and taking a lead role in the planning and delivery of each event including preparing event materials, checking and loading equipment. Support the Events Fundraisers by taking ownership of a key area for each event and managing all associated planning from start to finish. This includes conducting appropriate due diligence on suppliers, maintaining a thorough understanding of health and safety best practice, identifying potential risks, and ensuring appropriate control measures are implemented. Attend project planning meetings fully prepared, providing clear and timely updates on progress, key actions, risks, and any issues relating to your allocated area of responsibility. To support the Event Fundraisers acting as their deputy for Hospice organised events. Confident in preparing and delivering clear briefings for event areas you have planned, ensuring staff and volunteers who are leading those areas on the day understand their roles, responsibilities, and key requirements. Assist with event set-up and post-event derigging, ensuring equipment and event spaces are prepared and cleared safely and efficiently. To build and maintain relationships with our fundraising event participants, to ensure supporters receive an excellent supporter journey and experience of the hospice, from registration to thanking.
