Event Health & Safety Advisor

HornerSalus LtdLondon

Event Health & Safety Advisor | Victoria, London | Up to £41.5k + overtime + bonus

Are you from production or operations? This could be your next move.

The best event safety advisors don't always start in safety. Many of them started in production and operations, running builds, managing crews, handling venues and getting shows open on time. They already know how events really work.

If that's you, and you hold a NEBOSH or NCRQ qualification , you already have the part that's hardest to teach. We'll help you turn it into a career in event safety.

Is this you?

  • An event or production manager who has ended up looking after safety on your shows
  • In event operations or site management , and you want safety to be your main job rather than one of many
  • A freelancer ready for a permanent role with a busy, varied workload
  • A health and safety advisor with event experience who wants more live work
  • An event safety officer looking for more variety and responsibility

What you must have

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (Level 3) or NCRQ Certificate in Applied Health and Safety, as a minimum
  • 3+ years' experience in events

What will make you stand out

  • Hands-on experience of event production or operations: builds, venues, contractors and crews
  • A strong understanding of risk assessments, event safety plans and fire safety
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with real attention to detail
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Confidence presenting clearly to senior management
  • Strong planning, prioritising and organisational skills
  • A calm head under pressure and tight deadlines
  • A natural problem-solver who can stay focused for long stretches
  • A conscientious approach, a respect for procedure and a strong sense of diplomacy
  • Complete discretion with confidential, high-level information
  • Familiarity with Mac computers and software

Here's what that variety looks like

Here are some examples of projects we have worked on this summer across the UK and Europe:

  • Goodwood Festival of Speed: 8 events
  • Cannes Lions: 16 events
  • Silverstone: F1
  • Birmingham: an event at the NEC
  • Cornwall: a product launch
  • Florence: a private wedding
  • Miami: a fashion show and after-party

Across all of these, we provided consultancy, support, site safety and specialist fire safety services.
