Estimation Engineer / Quantity Surveyor (QS)

About us HAO Contracting (H A O Experting Building Contracting L.L.C.) is a Dubai contractor. We work in general contracting, interior fit-out, MEP and structural steel on villas, commercial buildings and warehouses across the UAE, and we source materials directly from factories. We’re growing quickly and need an Estimation Engineer to price our projects.

The role You’ll work closely with our Sales team. Sales collects the client’s drawings, BOQs, specifications and site information and sends them to you. You prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates, and Sales uses them to quote the client. You’ll own pricing from the first enquiry until the estimate is approved.

Responsibilities

• Review enquiry packages (drawings, specifications, BOQs, scope) and raise clarifications with the Sales team
• Prepare quantity take-offs for civil, fit-out, MEP and steel works
• Build detailed cost estimates covering materials, labour, equipment, subcontractors, preliminaries, overheads and margin
• Prepare BOQs where the client doesn’t provide one
• Get and compare supplier and subcontractor prices, working with the procurement team
• Build and maintain an internal database of rates and prices
• Prepare cost breakdowns and pricing summaries for management approval before quotes are sent
• Support tender submissions: pricing schedules, assumptions, exclusions and qualifications
• Price variations and change requests on awarded projects
• Track won and lost quotes and give feedback to improve pricing accuracy

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related field
• 3–6 years of estimation or QS experience with a contractor, with UAE experience required
• Currently based in the UAE
• Strong knowledge of UAE material, labour and subcontractor rates
• Able to read and take off from architectural, structural and MEP drawings
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with take-off software (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, CostX or similar) is an advantage
• Familiarity with POMI / CESMM measurement standards is an advantage
• Good written and spoken English
• Organised, accurate and able to meet quote deadlines while handling several enquiries at once

Nice to have

• Villa, fit-out or MEP estimation experience in Dubai
• Post-contract QS experience (valuations, variations, final accounts)
• Arabic or Chinese language skills
