Job Description – Electrician (Power Cable Manufacturing Industry)

Position Title: Electrician

Department: Maintenance / Engineering Location : [Al Sajaa Industrial Area]

Reporting To: Maintenance Supervisor / Engineering Manager

Position Summary

The Electrician is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all electrical systems, machines, and equipment within the power cable manufacturing facility. This includes installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of production lines such as extrusion machines, armoring machines, stranding lines, CCV/VCV lines, and testing equipment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintenance & Repair

• Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical panels, motors, drives, control systems, PLCs, and instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults on production machinery, power distribution boards, and control circuits.
• Repair and replace faulty electrical components such as sensors, relays, MCCBs, contactors, limit switches, and wiring.

1. Production Support

• Provide immediate technical support to production lines to minimize downtime.
• Monitor machine performance and ensure uninterrupted operation of extrusion lines, stranding machines, armoring machines, and cabling equipment.
• Assist in machine start‑up, shutdown, and setup activities.

1. Electrical Installation

• Install new electrical equipment, production lines, and wiring systems in compliance with electrical standards.
• Update electrical layouts/drawings when modifications are made.

1. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all work complies with local electrical codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
• Follow LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures during maintenance works.
• Conduct risk assessments before performing electrical tasks.

1. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain logs of maintenance work, breakdowns, spare parts used, and service reports.
• Assist with maintaining inventory of electrical spares and tools.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an Electrician in a manufacturing plant or heavy industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Extrusion machines
• Stranding/Armoring machines
• LV/MV/HV cable manufacturing lines
• AC/DC motors & drives
• PLC-controlled systems
• Industrial electrical safety practices

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in shifts and respond to emergencies.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in manufacturing plant conditions (heat, noise, rotating equipment).
• Capable of standing, bending, and lifting tools/equipment as required.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced cable manufacturing environment.
• Direct interaction with production, maintenance, and quality control teams.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fresher

Pay: AED1,800.00 - AED2,500.00 per month
