We need someone who combines strong engineering knowledge with practical management skills and a clear understanding of how to run a profitable engineering contracting business.

Key responsibilities

Technical leadership and project delivery

  • Oversee electrical projects from technical review and planning through execution, testing, commissioning and handover.
  • Review drawings, BOQs, specifications and technical submissions, oversee quantity take-offs, material requirements and technical compliance.
  • Guide site teams, resolve technical issues and coordinate with consultants, main contractors and other MEP trades to ensure quality installations and timely project completion.
  • Monitor site progress, quality, safety, resources and deadlines, ensuring compliance with applicable UAE regulations and project requirements.
  • Manage authority approvals and inspections, particularly with DEWA and ADDC, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, safety requirements and project standards.
  • Oversee testing, commissioning, snagging, as-built drawings, O&M manuals and final handover documentation.

Tendering and Commercial Management

  • Review tender documents, identify scope gaps and raise technical or commercial clarifications before submission.
  • Prepare and review cost estimates, BOQ pricing, supplier quotations and technical and commercial offers, accounting for materials, labour, subcontractors, overheads and margins.
  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, negotiate pricing and identify practical value-engineering alternatives.
  • Monitor project budgets, material consumption, labour costs and profitability; manage variations, claims and progress payment applications.
  • Support client negotiations and ensure commercial risks, exclusions and additional works are properly documented.

Operations and Team Management

  • Manage day-to-day operations across projects, coordinating engineers, supervisors, procurement, finance, and sub-contractors.
  • Plan manpower, material procurement and project schedules, monitor productivity and resolve delays or resource constraints.
  • Ensure site teams follow approved drawings, quality procedures, HSE requirements and client rules, including permit-to-work and lockout/tagout procedures where applicable.
  • Monitor project progress, maintain clear reporting and keep management informed of risks, costs, performance and corrective actions.

Client Management and Business Development

  • Act as a key contact for clients, consultants and main contractors, handling technical discussions, project meetings and escalations.
  • Develop new client relationships, follow up on tenders and identify opportunities for electrical contracting, maintenance and related services.
  • Oversee tenders, quotations, cost estimates, project budgets, variations and cost control.
  • Support negotiations and proposals, focusing on securing profitable projects and building long-term business relationships.
  • Monitor project profitability, payment follow-ups and contractual commitments while protecting the company's commercial interests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification or strong work experience.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in electrical contracting or MEP project execution, including substantial project and team management responsibility.
  • Previous experience in a senior project management, operations management or general management role in Electrical Projects.
  • Proven experience in both electrical estimation and tendering, as well as site execution and project delivery.
  • Strong practical knowledge of LV systems, power distribution, electrical installations, testing and commissioning. MV and/or HV experience is an advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge of UAE electrical regulations, authority approval procedures, IEC standards and applicable project requirements.
  • Strong understanding of quantity take-offs, tender pricing, project costing, budgeting, variations and cost control.
  • Ability to review drawings and BOQs, manage project costs, oversee multiple projects and communicate confidently with clients and consultants.
  • Strong leadership, commercial judgement, problem-solving and organisational skills, with good written and spoken English.
  • Must be flexible with time and travel requirements.

Technical Skills and Preferred Credentials

  • Practical experience with DEWA and TAQA/ADDC requirements; Experience with SEWA or FEWA is an advantage.
  • Ability to perform or review basic load calculations, cable sizing, voltage-drop calculations and distribution board ratings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD drawing review and quantity take-offs, with working knowledge of Revit considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge in Google Drive, Email, MS Excel skills and any software for BOQ preparation, tender pricing and cost control.
  • Experience with electrical, instrumentation and ELV systems relevant to the UAE market.
  • DEWA-approved Electrical Engineer status (G1/G2, as applicable), equivalent authority approval, UAE Society of Engineers membership and a valid UAE driving licence are preferred.

The Right Candidate

You are technically very confident in LV, knowledgeable in MV, and have very sound knowledge in all Electrical concepts, drawings, and calculations, commercially aware, and comfortable taking responsibility for decisions and results. You can move between engineering discussions, site supervision, client meetings and commercial negotiations without losing sight of the bigger picture.

Remuneration and Performance

The above mentioned is the starting salary, with additional performance-based sales commission and/or project completion bonuses, subject to agreed terms. High performers with proven reliability could get annual salary appraisal and promotions.
