Location: Head Office, Basildon, Essex
Reporting To: Chief of Staff/Director
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, commercially minded and proactive E-commerce Manager to take ownership of our online performance and drive the continued growth of our e-commerce business.
Furniture Outlet is a growing furniture retailer with five stores across Essex and London, a substantial online presence and ambitious expansion plans. We are looking for someone who can combine hands-on digital marketing expertise with a strategic approach to increasing online sales, improving website performance and maximising the profitability of our marketing investment.
You will work closely with our business owners, marketing and content teams, taking the time to understand our products, customers and commercial objectives. This role goes beyond managing advertising campaigns. We want someone who can proactively identify opportunities, develop our wider e-commerce strategy and play a key role in shaping our online growth over the coming years.
Key Responsibilities
- E-commerce Strategy & Growth (Core Focus): Take ownership of our e-commerce performance, developing and implementing strategies to increase online revenue, improve profitability and support long-term business growth.
- Google Ads & Meta Ads Management: Manage and optimise Google Search, Shopping, Performance Max, Facebook and Instagram advertising campaigns, including budgets, targeting and ongoing performance improvements.
- Performance & Budget Optimisation: Monitor marketing expenditure, identify opportunities to improve return on advertising spend (ROAS), reduce acquisition costs and maximise the commercial impact of our advertising investment.
- Website UX & Conversion Rate Optimisation: Analyse customer behaviour, identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to improve website usability, product pages, the purchasing journey and conversion rates.
- SEO & Organic Growth: Develop and manage our SEO strategy, improving organic search visibility, website traffic and long-term customer acquisition.
- Google Merchant Centre: Oversee product feeds, resolve disapprovals and optimise product information to improve visibility and performance across Google Shopping.
- Analytics & Commercial Reporting: Use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Google Tag Manager and other reporting tools to monitor website performance, customer behaviour and marketing effectiveness. Translate data into clear, actionable insights for the management team.
- Creative Strategy & Business Collaboration: Work closely with our content, buying and store teams to develop effective marketing campaigns, support promotions and ensure online activity aligns with wider business priorities.
- Strategic Initiative & Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify new opportunities, technologies and improvements, taking ownership of projects that strengthen our online presence and drive measurable results.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in e-commerce management, digital marketing or a similar commercially focused role, preferably within retail.
- Paid Advertising Expertise: Strong hands-on experience managing Google Ads and Meta Ads, including campaign optimisation, budget allocation and performance analysis.
- E-commerce Knowledge: Good understanding of website management, SEO, user experience (UX), conversion rate optimisation (CRO) and online retail best practices.
- Analytics & Technical Skills: Confident using GA4, Google Tag Manager and Google Merchant Centre to analyse performance, understand customer behaviour and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of online revenue, profitability, ROAS, cost per acquisition (CPA) and conversion rates, with the ability to connect marketing performance to wider business results.
- Strategic & Proactive Mindset: Able to think beyond day-to-day campaign management, independently identify opportunities and develop practical strategies for long-term growth.
- Communication & Collaboration: Able to clearly explain technical information and marketing performance to non-specialists, make commercially informed recommendations and work effectively with business owners and internal teams.
- Ownership & Initiative: Self-motivated, organised and results-driven, with the confidence to take responsibility for e-commerce performance and proactively implement improvements.
