# Documentation Engineer **Hume AI** · New York, NY · `On-site` 🕒 **Статус:** *Опубликовано: вчера* · *Источник: Indeed* --- ### About the Role Hume AI is looking for a Documentation Engineer to build and own the developer documentation for our voice AI platform. Contribute to our endeavor to ensure that AI is guided by human values, the most pivotal challenge (and opportunity) of the 21st century. About Us Hume AI is a Series B startup dedicated to building artificial intelligence that is directly optimized for human well-being. As the first company to release speech language models, we’re focused on expanding our research to encompass audio understanding models and evaluation platforms for enterprises. Our goal is to enable a future in which technology draws on an understanding of human emotional expression to better serve human goals. As part of our mission, we also conduct groundbreaking scientific research, publish in leading scientific journals like Nature, and support a non-profit, The Hume Initiative, that has released the first concrete ethical guidelines for empathic AI (www.thehumeinitiative.org). You can learn more about us on our website (https://hume.ai/) and read about us in WIRED, Forbes, and Venturebeat. About the Role As a Documentation Engineer, you will own the experience developers have when learning to build with Hume. You will work with engineers, researchers, and product partners to make our APIs understandable, our examples reliable, and the path from a first visit to a working integration straightforward. This is a hands-on role spanning technical writing, information architecture, code examples, and documentation infrastructure. We’re looking for someone who has built or meaningfully owned a developer documentation site and can carry that ownership from planning and implementation through ongoing maintenance. What You’ll Do Build and maintain Hume’s developer documentation site, including its structure, navigation, and content organization. Write clear API and SDK references, quickstarts, integration guides, and explanations of platform concepts. Create and test runnable code samples that help developers get to a working implementation. Work with engineering teams to document new APIs and keep documentation aligned with product releases. Improve the tooling and workflows used to review, test, generate, and publish documentation. Identify gaps and confusing steps through developer feedback and hands-on testing of the documented experience. Establish reusable writing and documentation patterns that make it easier for others to contribute. Own the quality and maintainability of the documentation as the product evolves. What You’ll Bring Demonstrated experience building or owning a live documentation site for a developer audience. Excellent technical writing skills and the ability to explain unfamiliar concepts clearly and accurately. Enough programming depth to run integrations, write working examples, and validate what you document. Experience working with APIs or SDKs and understanding the needs of developers using them. Strong judgment about information architecture, navigation, and the order in which developers need to learn things. Comfort working in version control and collaborating with engineers through a review process. A strong sense of ownership and the ability to move between content, tooling, and implementation details. Bonus Points Experience with documentation platforms such as Docusaurus, Mintlify, Nextra, ReadMe, Sphinx, or MkDocs. Experience generating reference documentation from OpenAPI, protobuf, or other structured sources. Experience with docs-as-code workflows, CI, or automated validation of code samples. Experience documenting speech, voice, audio, or machine-learning APIs. Work improving documentation search, discoverability, or the use of documentation by developer tools and AI agents. Compensation Range: $110K - $150K
