Director of Technology

We are seeking an experienced Technology Director to lead and grow a specialist AI Engineering and Technology Consulting capability within an established technology services business.

This is a senior, commercially focused position for an individual who combines exceptional technical credibility with proven leadership and business development capabilities.

You will play a key role in shaping the technical direction of the practice, building high-performing engineering teams, developing client relationships and identifying new business opportunities. You will operate across the full consulting lifecycle, from initial client engagement and solution design through to pre-sales, delivery and ongoing account development.

There will be regular overseas travel required for this position

The Ideal Candidate

An established technology leader who has retained strong technical credibility while developing the commercial and consulting capabilities required to grow a technology practice. Someone who can win the confidence of a CIO, lead a technical workshop, challenge a proposed solution and take accountability for delivering the outcome.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, develop and grow a team of highly skilled software engineers, AI engineers and technical consultants.
• Drive business development activity, identifying, developing and converting new client opportunities.
• Build and maintain senior-level relationships with CIOs, CTOs and other executive stakeholders.
• Lead client workshops, discovery sessions and technical strategy discussions, translating business challenges into technical solutions.
• Own and contribute to pre-sales activity, including solution design, technical proposals, presentations and client pitches.
• Provide technical leadership across complex AI engineering and software development programmes.
• Oversee delivery engagements, ensuring solutions meet quality, commercial and client expectations.
• Identify opportunities to introduce AI, automation and modern engineering capabilities into client environments.
• Work closely with Partners and senior leadership to develop the practice strategy and growth plans.
• Potentially assume responsibility for practice P&L, commercial performance, revenue growth and resource utilisation.

Experience & Technical Requirements

• Significant experience in software engineering, technology consulting or digital transformation leadership.
• Strong technical background in either Full-Stack Java engineering or the Microsoft technology ecosystem.
• Demonstrable experience in AI engineering, including the design and implementation of AI-enabled solutions.
• Experience leading large-scale engineering or technology delivery programmes.
• Proven ability to build, develop and lead high-performing technical teams.
• A strong track record in business development, winning new clients and growing existing accounts.
• Experience operating across pre-sales, solution architecture and delivery.
• Commercial awareness, including budgeting, forecasting, resource planning and P&L responsibility.
• Ability to engage confidently with C-suite stakeholders and lead complex client conversations independently.
