Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on, results-driven Director of Sales & Operations to lead the growth and development of our residential and commercial sales organization. This is a key leadership position for an entrepreneurial professional who can build a high-performing sales team, develop new business opportunities, strengthen marketing and lead generation, and improve the systems that support profitable growth. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution and is comfortable wearing multiple hats in a growing business. What You’ll Be Doing: Sales Team Leadership - Primary Focus - Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and develop a high-performing residential and commercial sales team, maintaining an active recruiting pipeline to support growth. - Establish sales goals, compensation structures, performance scorecards, and accountability standards while coaching team members to achieve results. - Align staffing, territories, and salesperson capacity with lead volume, business needs, and growth objectives. Sales Performance Management - Oversee lead management, appointments, estimating, proposals, closing activities, and pipeline performance. - Monitor key sales metrics including revenue, conversion rates, average contract value, margins, and follow-up compliance. - Coordinate residential and commercial sales strategy with ownership and provide clear weekly performance reporting. Commercial Sales, Takeoffs & Business Development - Identify and pursue commercial window and door opportunities through bid platforms, construction databases, and professional networks. - Build relationships with general contractors, architects, developers, designers, and property managers to generate new business. - Coordinate commercial estimating, takeoffs, bids, follow-up, and project handoffs to develop a sustainable commercial sales pipeline. Operations Coordination - Partner with the Office Manager to coordinate measurements, deliveries, installation schedules, service needs, and customer communications. - Ensure projects transition smoothly into operations with accurate scopes, measurements, selections, pricing, and documentation. - Foster alignment among sales, office administration, operations, and ownership. Marketing, Lead Generation & Social Media - Develop residential and commercial lead-generation strategies, including digital marketing, Google presence, social media, referrals, partnerships, and relationship-based business development. - Track marketing effectiveness, lead quality, acquisition costs, and return on investment. - Develop consistent project content, testimonials, educational material and social media activity that strengthens the company brand and generates opportunities. AI & Process Improvement - Leverage AI, automation, CRM tools, and technology to improve recruiting, sales follow-up, marketing, commercial opportunity research, and reporting. - Standardize and streamline workflows to reduce administrative work and improve team productivity. - Develop performance dashboards and evaluate technology investments based on measurable improvements in efficiency, customer experience, and profitability. Performance Measurement & Accountability - Sales Team: Recruiting success, time-to-hire, retention, productivity, and quota attainment. - Sales: Revenue growth, conversion rates, margins, and pipeline health. - Commercial: Qualified opportunities, bid success rate, pipeline health, and awarded revenue. - Marketing: Lead volume, cost per lead, conversion rates, and ROI. - Operations: Scheduling accuracy, project execution, and customer satisfaction. - AI/Process: Response-time improvement, workflows automated, CRM adoption, and measurable process improvements. What You’ll Bring: - 5+ years of progressive experience in sales leadership, business development, operations management, or a related role, preferably in remodeling, construction, home improvement, windows and doors, or the building products industry. - Demonstrated success recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and managing a sales team to achieve revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals. - Strong understanding of the sales process, including lead management, customer consultations, estimating, proposal development, follow-up, negotiation, and closing. - Experience developing and managing sales pipelines, setting performance expectations, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), and holding team members accountable for results. - Working knowledge of job costing, pricing, gross margins, sales compensation, and profitability. - Ability to coordinate sales commitments with scheduling, product availability, installation capacity, and customer expectations. - Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a small-business environment. - Excellent communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills, including the ability to work directly with ownership, employees, customers, vendors, and subcontractors. - Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation a must. Physical Demands/Work Conditions: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Duties primarily involve sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, and using standard office equipment. The employee must be able to use a computer and telephone for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
