Director of Operations & Growth

Abbi Kirsten Collections · Remote, U.S.-based · Full-time, W-2.

Reports to: Abbi (Founder & CEO)

Pay: $100,000 - $115,000 base depending on experience, plus quarterly performance bonuses.

START HERE

Somewhere right now, there’s a woman sitting alone at her kitchen table with an idea and a desire for creative expression. Maybe she owns a cutting machine that she’s a little overwhelmed to learn, but she dreams of what is possible.

What she comes to realize is that it was never about the thing she made. It’s the memories, the skills, the calm of creating, and the community of people she finds on the same path.

That’s the whole business. Everything we sell exists to move her from “I could never” to “look at the world that becomes possible when I create.” We are known globally for cutting machine projects, paper flowers, and digital crafting, but the project is just the doorway. The actual product is confidence, and for a growing number of our people, an income they didn’t think was possible.

WHY WE ARE HIRING

Abbi built this business starting with $3 templates, scaling to millions in revenue, largely on her own instincts. The demand is proven. But a founder can only be in one place at a time, and right now she’s in all of them: strategy, launches, operations, content, and deciding which of 40 good ideas to actually do this quarter.

We need one person who can own operations and growth strategy and become the right hand to Abbi.

Not a project manager who waits for direction. A leader who can look at this business, find the money we’re leaving on the table, build the plan, develop the team, and run it.

If “I’ll build it, then I’ll lead it” sounds like your kind of thing, keep reading.

THE JOB

  1. Find the Growth and Lead Operations
  • Own the marketing operations plan across launches, evergreen funnels, content, audience growth, and retention.
  • Dig into the numbers and customer behavior, run thoughtful tests, and come back with “here’s where the money is.”
  • Improve the customer journey so more people buy, stay, and buy again.
  • Lead operational launch strategy end to end and own the outcomes.
  • Scale proven evergreen offers by creating a strong operational backbone.
  • Set the goals, numbers, and deadlines, and hold the line.
  • Direct the people doing the work: ads, creative, content, tech, etc.
  • Spot the bottleneck before it costs us growth.
  1. Build the Bench
  • You’ll identify gaps in the team, then hire and onboard people to fill them while protecting revenue.
  • Set up the systems, docs, and rhythms that let work happen without the founder in the middle of it.
  • Make ownership obvious: who decides what, and by when.
  • Coach people into doing the best work of their careers.
  1. Be Abbi’s Second Brain
  • Pressure-test ideas before they become projects, and tell Abbi when a shiny new idea is a distraction.
  • Bring recommendations and solutions, not just problems.
  • Keep a proactive eye on what’s coming in the creative pipeline so nothing sneaks up on us.
  • Disagree with her when you think she’s wrong. That’s part of the job, and she wants it.

THE NUMBERS YOU OWN

(Abbi will set specific targets with you in your first 30 days)

  • Total revenue and revenue per launch.
  • Evergreen funnel revenue and conversion rate.
  • Customer lifetime value and repeat purchase rate.
  • Membership retention.
  • Percentage of marketing operations work executed by the team vs. by you.

WHAT A GREAT FIRST YEAR LOOKS LIKE

  • A six-month initiative plan, built with Abbi in your first 90 days.
  • Clean, intuitive systems in place of what’s held together by tape, creating capacity for revenue growth.
  • A repeatable system of finding an opportunity, testing it, and scaling it.
  • One clear marketing plan that connects our offers, launches, funnels, and content.
  • Strategically identify and hire additional key team members while protecting profits.

The honest measure: more revenue, a stronger team, and a founder who got her calendar back.

WHERE THIS ROLE GOES

As profit grows and the team continues to develop, this role is a natural path to a true COO seat.

In three to five years, you’ll be able to say you built the engine behind a brand bringing people back to making things with their hands.

YOU’LL LOVE IT HERE IF

  • You get genuinely excited about a business you can pull apart and improve.
  • You’ve been the person who saw the opportunity nobody else spotted, and built a plan to make it a reality.
  • You can hold a strategy conversation at 10 am and be in a spreadsheet fixing a funnel at 2 pm without feeling like the second one is beneath you.
  • You bring energy, candor, and excellence, even in the details.

YOU’LL HATE IT HERE IF

  • You need a big existing team, and everything handed to you.
  • You want to only do high-level strategy starting day one.
  • You go quiet when you disagree.
  • You need someone to check on you.
  • You’re looking for a two-year stop.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU NEED TO HAVE

  • Building systems, processes, and accountability that make execution happen seamlessly.
  • 7+ years across operations and business strategy, including leading strategy initiatives at a growing online business.
  • Experience reporting directly to a founder or CEO and being a real thought partner, not just an executor.
  • Built and ran marketing operations across evergreen funnels, launches, customer journey, audience growth, and retention.
  • Uses data to spot opportunities, make the call, and deliver measurable results you can point to.
  • Led teams and managed contractors, including hiring people, developing them, and handing over ownership.
  • Proactively communicates and closes loops before the founder asks.
  • Skilled in AI tools, with a foundational understanding of how to use them to work faster while protecting the brand’s authenticity.
  • Leads with excellence in everything, from catching a tiny typo to seeing leaks in a funnel.

Craft experience is not required. Curiosity about our people is.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Familiar with online education, memberships, coaching, digital products, or creator businesses.
  • Know your way around Asana, Google Workspace, WordPress, Thinkific, Slack, Zapier, Stripe, SamCart, or similar.

THE DETAILS

  • Direct partnership with the founder and real influence over where this company goes.
  • A clear path to COO as the company and team grow.
  • Paid time off and company holidays. (We’re a lean team, so health and retirement benefits aren’t offered yet. They’re on our roadmap as we grow, and we’d rather be upfront now.)
  • Quarterly incentive bonuses based on KPIs.
  • A flexible schedule built on trust and ownership. We care about what you deliver and the outcome, not what time you logged on.

HOW TO APPLY

Send two things to hiring@abbikirstencollections.com with the subject line “Director of Operations & Growth Application”:

  • Your resume, as a PDF.
  • A video, 90 seconds max. Not a rehearsed pitch. Tell us why you specifically are a fit for this role and the first thing you would look at if hired.

Want to really capture our attention? Share one thing you want us to remember about you in your email.

We read every application that follows these two steps. We don’t read the ones that do not.
