The Boys & Girls Club of Plymouth is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Leadership Giving , a pivotal role dedicated to cultivating and expanding relationships with high-level donors, alumni, and key stakeholders. Founded in 1911 and officially chartered in 1915, the Boys & Girls Club of Plymouth has supported the community for over a century. Over the years, the Club’s focus has evolved to reflect the needs of its members. What began as a “gym and swim” program has transformed into a comprehensive approach to youth development, including academic support (basic skills and homework help), fitness and agility training, and programs tailored to boys and girls for individual and group development. In 2003, the Club moved to its own state-of-the-art, 17,000-square-foot facility and in July 2014, a newly constructed 3,000-square-foot Teen Center was opened exclusively to serve Plymouth area teens. Boys & Girls Club of Plymouth is currently operating under a management agreement with Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South, and as part of that partnership, the organizations are exploring what a “Better Together” approach could mean for the future of Boys & Girls Clubs in Plymouth. This exploration is focused on identifying opportunities to strengthen programs, expand impact, enhance organizational capacity, and ensure that young people and families in Plymouth have access to the strongest possible Club experience. Candidates should understand that this position is being established to provide stability and continuity for the Club and its members regardless of the outcome of this exploratory process. The position is intended to play an important role in advancing the mission and serving the Plymouth community throughout the process and beyond. The Director of Leadership Giving - Plymouth is a frontline fundraiser responsible for expanding philanthropic support for youth and families at the Boys and Girls Club of Plymouth . With a strong emphasis on relationship building and community presence, this position will develop and manage a portfolio of individual, corporate, and community prospects and donors; identify new sources of support; and move relationships from discovery and cultivation through solicitation of stewardship. This position will help establish a strong, sustainable fundraising presence in Plymouth while benefiting from the strategy, systems, and specialized support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South Mission Advancement team. This role will serve as a visible ambassador in the community and work closely with organizational leadership, Plymouth-based staff and volunteers, and members of the broader advancement team to grow contributed revenue and deepen local engagement. This position reports to the managing Vice President & Chief Advancement Officer. The Director of Leadership Giving - Plymouth will be a part of an innovative, fast-growing nonprofit organization and will work as part of a dynamic partner Club fundraising team to manage and optimize the strategics and systems that are crucial to a thriving mission advancement operation. They will make considerable contributions to a wide variety of central fund development functions including stakeholder communications, community and donor engagement, prospecting, project management, and executing essential daily operational and administrative accountabilities of the Advancement Office. Ideal candidates for this role will possess exemplary relationship building, project management, and communications skills, and will demonstrate collaborative and mentorship-minded leadership while employing an entrepreneurial, collaborative, and results-oriented approach to advance our mission and brand through donor engagement, cultivation, and stewardship. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This list below includes essential functions that may or may not be assigned to an individual within this role. Portfolio Management & Leadership Giving Build and manage an active portfolio of individual donors, corporate partners, and qualified prospects, with primary responsibility for relationships based in Plymouth and surrounding communities. Develop and execute individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that lead to increased engagement, renewed support, and new philanthropic commitments. Conduct regular donor and prospect meetings, site visits, tours, and other meaningful interactions, maintaining a consistent presence in the Plymouth community. Qualify new prospects through research, referrals, networking, and community engagement, and build a healthy pipeline of annual, leadership, and major gift opportunities. Prepare donor briefings, proposals, talking points, and follow-up communications in partnership with Mission Advancement colleagues and organizational leadership. Maintain timely and accurate contact reports, moves-management activity, and portfolio updates in Raiser’s Edge NXT in accordance with centralized database procedures. Track progress toward agreed-upon activity and revenue goals and provide regular pipeline and forecast updates to the managing Vice President & Chief Advancement Officer. Plymouth Community Engagement Serve as a visible, trusted representative of the organization at community events, business gatherings, civic meetings, ribbon cuttings, and other relationship-building opportunities. Develop strong relationships with Plymouth-area businesses, civic leaders, community partners, donors, alumni, families, and other stakeholders who can advance the mission. Identify opportunities for corporate sponsorships, workplace giving, cause campaigns, volunteer engagement, in-kind support, and other meaningful partnerships. Partner with Plymouth-based leadership and volunteers to leverage introductions, engage prospects, and strengthen the organization’s local network. Help communicate the impact of the Club’s programs and the vision for the combined organization in a way that inspires confidence, connection, and investment. Annual Giving, Campaigns & Events Support the growth of annual giving in Plymouth through personal outreach, leadership annual giving, donor renewal and upgrade strategies, and targeted acquisition efforts. Cultivate and solicit sponsorships and support for organizational events and campaigns, with a particular focus on expanding participation from the Plymouth market. Collaborate with the centralized Events and Corporate Relations team on event strategy, sponsor engagement, and stewardship; provide strong local knowledge and relationship leadership rather than owning event administration. Participate in donor communications, recognition, and stewardship activities that demonstrate impact and strengthen long-term loyalty. Grant & Institutional Funding Facilitation Identify and help qualify Plymouth-area foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities based on local relationships and knowledge of community priorities. Serve as the local relationship lead and internal facilitator for grant opportunities, connecting the Director of Foundation Relations with the appropriate Plymouth-based staff, program information, site context, and funder contacts. Support funder cultivation, site visits, information gathering, and stewardship while the Director of Foundation Relations leads proposal development, submission, reporting, and grants administration. Help ensure that local funders receive timely, meaningful updates and remain connected to the impact of their investment. Collaboration & Transition Support Work as an integrated member of the Mission Advancement team, coordinating closely with colleagues responsible for donor relations, foundation relations, events and corporate engagement, marketing, and advancement operations. Contribute local knowledge and relationship history to a thoughtful transition of Plymouth fundraising activity into centralized systems, processes, and communications. Follow organization-wide practices for gift processing, acknowledgements, data entry, reporting, prospect management, and donor communications; this role is not responsible for routine gift entry or database administration. Participate in team meetings, planning, training, and other cross-functional initiatives that advance organizational goals. Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope and purpose of the position. QUALIFICATIONS: Understanding of and deep appreciation for the mission, vision, and values of Boys & Girls Club of Plymouth and the respective roles of all stakeholder groups. Bachelor’s degree preferred with at least 4 years of relevant experience in fundraising, donor relations, sales, business development, community engagement, or another relationship-centered field; nonprofit development experience is preferred but not required. Prior experience in a nonprofit development or advancement capacity is strongly preferred, along with knowledge of current and emerging trends in fundraising. Demonstrated resource management, budgeting, and reporting skills. Novice graphic design skills and experience with Canva or similar content creation solution. Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and project management experience, including the ability to work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines in a cross-functional, team-based environment. Demonstrated resource management, budgeting, and analytical skills – including the ability to compile and analyze data for planning and reporting purposes. Technological proficiency, including a command of the Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with using a database to track and extract information. Exemplary communication skills (written and verbal) are needed, including the ability to present in front of large groups, interact with and motivate stakeholders, represent the organization at community events and meetings, and write professionally in emails, etc. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people (staff, families, youth, etc.) and a track record of building and sustaining meaningful relationships with individuals and teams from all socioeconomic backgrounds. Commitment to professionalism including high expectations and standards of quality, a strong work ethic and personal code of ethics, accountability, and dependability. Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective objectives for teams and individuals and take ownership for results. Demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, inclusiveness, and empowerment. Willing to provide leadership daily in a normal eight-hour day and occasional night and weekend hours.
