Director of Human Resources – Luxury Boutique Hotel Location: Los Angeles, CA Compensation: $110,000–$120,000 The Opportunity A privately owned AAA Four Diamond luxury boutique hotel in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to join its Executive Committee. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on hospitality HR leader who enjoys influencing culture, developing talent, and partnering closely with senior property leadership and ownership. The Director of Human Resources will report directly to the General Manager, with additional interaction with ownership, and will lead the property's overall people strategy. The ideal candidate brings strong hotel HR experience and a demonstrated ability to lead through change, strengthen employee engagement, and create a high-performance service culture. Key Responsibilities Serve as the property's senior HR leader and strategic partner to the General Manager, Executive Committee, and ownership. Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with operational and business priorities. Lead employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development . Drive employee engagement and culture initiatives, including follow-up and action planning from engagement surveys. Coach department leaders on employee relations, performance, staffing, compensation, and organizational effectiveness. Manage recruiting strategy and ensure the property maintains a strong leadership and hourly talent pipeline. Oversee payroll, HRIS, benefits administration, workers' compensation, and workplace safety . Manage compensation practices, recognition programs, incentives, and employment offers. Analyze turnover, staffing, employee satisfaction, open positions, and other workforce metrics and communicate results to senior leadership. Identify opportunities to improve staffing models, processes, productivity, and labor effectiveness. Lead change-management initiatives that impact employees and the property's culture. Ensure HR policies, practices, documentation, and employment procedures remain compliant and consistently administered. Develop and support HR team members while serving as a trusted resource for employees throughout the hotel. Ideal Background Previous Human Resources leadership experience within a luxury, upscale, full-service, or boutique hotel environment . Strong generalist knowledge across employee relations, recruiting, benefits, compensation, payroll, compliance, workers' compensation, and talent development. Experience partnering directly with a hotel General Manager and senior operating leaders. Demonstrated ability to influence culture and improve employee engagement. Strong understanding of California employment practices preferred. Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on in a highly visible property leadership position. Strong communication, coaching, problem-solving, and change-management skills.
