Director, Human Resources
The Director of Human Resources reports to the Vice President of Human Resources and serves in a key leadership role, providing strategic and operational direction for the Hayward Human Resources department. This hands-on leader collaborates in the planning, development, and execution of Tamarack Health's overall Human Resources strategy, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation, workforce planning, and HRIS optimization. Leading the Hayward Human Resources team, this individual works collaboratively with Organizational Development, Employee Health, Accounting, and site leadership to foster a culture of high engagement, resulting in exceptional employee and patient experiences. Responsibilities/Duties: Acts as the primary HR Leader for the Hayward campus and leadership, providing strategic guidance and support in workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, talent management, and leadership development. Partners with site leadership to develop, execute, and monitor HR strategies aligned with organizational goals, mission, vision, and values. Serves as a trusted advisor to site leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, talent strategies, and HR best practices. Collaborates with organizational leaders to identify, develop, and retain high-potential talent through succession planning, leadership development, and talent management initiatives. Partners with leaders to strengthen organizational culture, employee engagement, leadership effectiveness, and change management efforts while promoting Tamarack Health's mission, vision, and values. Provides coaching and consultation to leaders on employee relations, performance management, change management, and workforce decisions to support sustainable business outcomes. Leads, develops, and mentors the Hayward HR team to foster high performance, accountability, and professional growth. Leads by example by working collaboratively across sites and functions. Oversees all Human Resources functions at the Hayward campus, including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, retention, and policy compliance. Leads employee engagement, retention, recognition, and culture initiatives that enhance the overall employee experience. Identifies and implements process improvements that enhance operational efficiency, service delivery, and organizational performance. Provides leadership and guidance in complex employee relations matters, conducting investigations and ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant resolutions. Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and organizational policies. Develops and manages departmental operating budgets, policies, and procedures while ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements. Continuously evaluates HR policies, programs, and initiatives to identify opportunities that enhance organizational effectiveness and the employee experience. Utilizes HR metrics, workforce data, and organizational insights to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred. SHRM-S/CP, S/PHR, or equivalent Human Resources certification strongly preferred. Minimum of eight 10 years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience, including responsibility for multiple HR disciplines. Minimum of 6 years of leadership experience with direct responsibility for developing, coaching, and managing staff. Demonstrated experience partnering with senior leaders on workforce planning, organizational development, employee relations, and talent management initiatives. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to leverage workforce data, trends, and metrics to support strategic decision-making. Experience leading organizational change initiatives and driving employee engagement efforts preferred. Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), workforce analytics, and reporting tools preferred. Experience in a healthcare environment strongly preferred.
