This senior role bridges development, security, and operations, with a focus on automation and integrating security early in the process, in a dynamic production environment. You will also help architect and build out our move to a multi-region, highly resilient platform. You will report to the DevSecOps Director, act as a technical lead on platform and pipeline security, and mentor the engineers, developers, and data teams who build on our platforms. Key Responsibilities: Own the architecture, standards, and governance of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) across environments. Automate provisioning, configuration, deployment, and operational workflows. Manage compute, storage, virtualization, and hybrid VM/container environments. Integrate security scanning, compliance checks, and vulnerability management into CI/CD pipelines. Build, optimize, and maintain CI/CD pipelines. Deploy and manage containerized applications and artifact repositories. Mature our existing monitoring and logging stack into full observability, including meaningful alerting, service-level objectives, dashboards, and tracing across systems. Lead incident response and root-cause analysis, and participate in a low-frequency on-call rotation. Mentor engineers, developers, data analysts, and data scientists who build on our platforms, and lead secure design and deployment reviews and documentation standards. Own operational readiness, runbooks, and post-incident follow-through. Define the platform and security tooling roadmap in partnership with the DevSecOps Director. Lead threat modeling and security architecture reviews for new services and pipelines. Evaluate and select infrastructure and security tooling, including build-vs-buy recommendations. Partner with program and business stakeholders to translate requirements into solution designs and reference architectures for our on-premises environment. Produce architecture documentation, diagrams, and decision records for proposed and delivered solutions. Design for availability, disaster recovery, and capacity, including hardware sizing, backup topology, and recovery objectives. Help design and build out a multi-region, highly resilient architecture, including replication, failover, and cross-site networking. Develop cost and total-cost-of-ownership models covering hardware, licensing, and vendor selection. Assess third-party platforms and self-hosted software for security, integration, and identity/access fit. Required Qualifications: 7-10 years of experience across DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE, Systems Administration, Cloud Engineering, or Software Engineering roles. Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash/Shell, Python, or similar). Hands-on ownership of security scanning, vulnerability management, and remediation practices aligned to OWASP and NIST guidance. Deep hands-on experience with Git (GitHub preferred), CI/CD platforms, containers, and production container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes or equivalent). Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools and virtualization/cloud compute resources (e.g., Proxmox, VMware, Hyper-V, AWS EC2, Azure VMs, GCP Compute Engine, or similar). Hands-on experience with object storage and the S3 API, including bucket and access policy design, lifecycle rules, versioning, and capacity planning. Strong working knowledge of Linux administration and networking (DNS, TLS, load balancing, segmentation). Hands-on experience with observability platforms (e.g., Grafana/Prometheus, Elastic/ELK, Datadog, New Relic, or similar). Demonstrated track record improving DevOps/SRE practices in an established engineering organization and leading delivery in an agile environment. Experience designing multi-tier or hybrid systems end to end, including sizing, redundancy, and integration decisions. Ability to document and present design trade-offs, risks, and cost implications to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on experience deploying, operating, and maintaining data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, Airbyte, or similar), with familiarity with the data pipelines, including any AI/ML workloads, that run on them. Experience running self-hosted object storage platforms (e.g., Garage, SeaweedFS, Ceph RADOS Gateway, RustFS, Versity, MinIO, or similar). Experience with managed cloud S3 providers (e.g., Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, Wasabi, Backblaze B2, Cloudflare R2, or similar). Use of AI-powered tools to enhance productivity (e.g., Copilot, automation assistants, code generation). Experience with traditional development languages and frameworks (e.g., .NET/C#, Java, or similar). Experience with secrets management, policy-as-code, or GitOps practices. Deeper knowledge of container orchestration, service meshes, or distributed tracing. Background in managing artifact repositories and software composition analysis. Familiarity with compliance frameworks and incident management tools.
