Developer

Evergen Systems LtdMaidenhead SL6 1BR

We're Hiring – Come and Build the Future with Evergen Solar!

Are you a talented, ambitious and forward-thinking Developer who loves building innovative software, solving problems and making technology work smarter?

Do you enjoy using AI to accelerate development while maintaining high standards of quality, security and performance?

If so, we want to hear from you!

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Full Stack Developer to join our growing Digital Operations Team at our Head Office in Maidenhead.

This isn't a role where you'll spend months working on projects that never see the light of day. You'll be building, improving and maintaining real software used across our business, with the opportunity to make an immediate and lasting impact.

You'll be joining an AI-first team where innovation is encouraged, ideas are valued and technology plays a central role in how we operate.

What We Do… Feel Good Energy!

At Evergen Solar, we've been helping customers take control of their energy costs for over a decade.

We specialise in designing and installing high-quality solar panel and battery storage systems tailored to our customers' individual needs.

As an MCS-certified solar installer since 2011, we're proud of our reputation, our continued growth and our commitment to delivering outstanding service.

We are also proud winners of the Top Brand Solar PV Installer Award in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

As our business continues to grow, so does our investment in technology, automation and artificial intelligence.

That's where you come in!

About the Role

We're looking for a proactive and technically confident Developer who can take ownership of projects from concept through to delivery.

Working closely with our Digital Operations Manager, you'll help design, build and maintain the internal systems, websites, applications, automations and integrations that keep Evergen running efficiently.

You'll work across different departments, including Sales, Operations, Finance and Customer Engagement, developing practical solutions that make a real difference to how our teams work.

From creating internal platforms and dashboards to developing CRM systems and AI-powered tools, no two days will be the same.

This is a hands-on development role with real responsibility, real ownership and genuine opportunities to make an impact.

What You'll Be Working On

Internal Software & Business Tools

  • Build and improve our internal staff platforms, including booking systems, approval processes, reporting dashboards and intranet tools.
  • Develop user-friendly applications using React, TypeScript, Supabase and Vercel.
  • Create role-based systems that improve productivity and simplify everyday processes.

CRM Development

  • Support the design, development, implementation and business-wide rollout of our new CRM system.
  • Develop features that improve customer management, reporting and internal communication.

Integrations & Automation

  • Build and maintain integrations between third-party systems using APIs and webhooks.
  • Connect lead suppliers, dialler platforms, finance providers and e-signature services.
  • Develop Microsoft 365 automations using Power Automate, SharePoint, Teams and Entra ID.

AI & Innovation

  • Develop AI-powered tools using Claude API and other emerging technologies.
  • Help create intelligent solutions such as automated proposal generation, complaint triage and voice assistants.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve business efficiency.

Email & Customer Communications

  • Develop automated customer communications, including appointment confirmations, review requests and updates.
  • Manage transactional email integrations using Resend.
  • Support email authentication and deliverability configurations.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Designing, developing, testing and deploying reliable software solutions.
  • Taking ownership of projects from initial requirements through to successful implementation.
  • Writing and maintaining database schemas, SQL queries, migrations and security policies.
  • Building secure and reliable API integrations with appropriate logging and error handling.
  • Reviewing and improving AI-generated code before deployment.
  • Managing development workflows using GitHub, including branches, pull requests and code reviews.
  • Ensuring systems follow security best practices and UK GDPR requirements.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across the business to understand challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues and continuously improving existing systems.
  • Producing clear documentation that both technical and non-technical colleagues can understand.

What We're Looking For

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • At least 2 years' experience developing and deploying production web applications.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL, including database design, joins and migrations.
  • Experience working with APIs, webhooks and third-party integrations.
  • A good understanding of authentication, authorisation, role-based access and application security.
  • Confidence using Git and GitHub for version control, collaboration and code reviews.
  • Experience working with modern web development technologies.
  • The ability to troubleshoot problems, work independently and take ownership of your work.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing secure, maintainable code.
  • A proactive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for technology, innovation and AI.
  • The right to work in the UK.

Even Better If You Have…

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

  • React, TypeScript, Supabase and Vercel.
  • Supabase Edge Functions and Row Level Security.
  • Microsoft Graph API, Power Automate and Entra ID.
  • AI development using Claude API or other large language models.
  • Email authentication, DNS configuration and transactional email services.
  • Mobile application development using Expo or React Native.
  • Automated software testing.
  • Experience within the renewable energy, solar, construction or installation industries.

Don't worry if you haven't worked with every technology listed. We're particularly interested in developers who have strong foundations, learn quickly and enjoy tackling new challenges.

How We Use AI

At Evergen, we believe AI is transforming how software is developed, and we want to be at the forefront of that change.

We actively encourage the use of AI development tools, including Claude Code , to improve efficiency, accelerate development and explore new possibilities.

However, we believe great developers don't just generate code. They understand it, challenge it and take responsibility for it.

You'll be expected to:

  • Plan solutions carefully before using AI to generate code.
  • Understand and review all AI-generated code before implementation.
  • Identify potential security issues, errors and performance concerns.
  • Provide AI tools with clear instructions, technical specifications and appropriate context.
  • Maintain high development standards while making the most of emerging AI technology.

We want someone who knows how to use AI intelligently, not someone who relies on it blindly.

Why Join Evergen Solar?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established, award-winning renewable energy business that is continuing to invest in its people, technology and future.

You'll benefit from:

  • Competitive Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 depending on experience.
