We're a small, hands-on print shop where teamwork is essential. While everyone has their primary responsibilities, we all pitch in wherever needed to keep orders moving and customers happy. This position combines graphic design, print production, and customer service. You'll be responsible for creating and preparing artwork for printing, operating production equipment, and helping ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on time. Unlike a traditional graphic design position, this is not a desk-only role. You'll work directly with customers, handle a variety of print projects, and actively participate in the production process. We're looking for someone who enjoys being creative but also takes pride in seeing their work go from concept to finished product. Key Responsibilities Graphic Design & Prepress - Create, modify, and prepare customer artwork for printing. - Design business cards, flyers, brochures, menus, booklets, banners, signs, decals, and other marketing materials. - Review customer-supplied files for resolution, bleeds, margins, sizing, and overall print readiness. - Make necessary artwork adjustments and troubleshoot file issues. - Prepare accurate digital proofs and communicate revisions with customers. - Ensure artwork meets production requirements before printing. - Organize and maintain customer artwork files for future orders and reprints. Print Production & Finishing - Operate and maintain digital printing and finishing equipment. - Assist with printing, cutting, trimming, laminating, mounting, folding, binding, and other finishing tasks. - Prepare files and materials for production. - Monitor jobs throughout production to ensure accuracy and quality. - Inspect completed orders for color, sizing, finishing, and overall quality. - Package completed orders for customer pickup or delivery. - Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient production environment. Customer Service & Order Coordination - Assist customers in person, by phone, and through email. - Gather project details, specifications, and artwork requirements. - Assist with preparing estimates and quotes, as needed. - Communicate with customers regarding proofs, revisions, approvals, and order status. - Follow up on quotes and completed orders when needed. - Help enter, organize, and track customer orders. - Coordinate with other team members to keep jobs moving and meet deadlines. - Assist with additional shop responsibilities as needed. Qualifications What We're Looking For - Previous graphic design experience and a strong understanding of design fundamentals. - Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. - Understanding of file formats, resolution, bleeds, color modes, and preparing artwork for print. - Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work. - Ability to multitask and manage several projects with competing deadlines. - Comfortable working directly with customers and communicating professionally. - Ability to work efficiently without sacrificing quality. - Dependable, punctual, organized, and self-motivated. - Willingness to learn and operate printing and finishing equipment. - Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team. - A proactive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed. Preferred but Not Required - Experience working in a commercial print shop or sign shop. - Experience with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat. - Familiarity with digital printing, large-format printing, and finishing equipment. - Experience preparing estimates, processing orders, or managing print projects. - Knowledge of different paper stocks, printing methods, and finishing options. - Experience with Microsoft Office or print shop management software. Print production experience is a plus, but we're willing to train the right candidate who already has strong graphic design skills.
