We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Design Department Head to lead our design team and oversee the successful delivery of high-quality, innovative, and authority-compliant design projects. Key Responsibilities - Lead, manage, and coordinate the Design Department, including architectural, structural, and MEP design teams. - Oversee the complete design process, from concept development to detailed design and final authority approvals. - Ensure all designs comply with UAE building regulations, local authority requirements, and applicable international standards. - Manage design deliverables, project schedules, resource allocation, and departmental performance. - Coordinate with clients, project managers, consultants, and internal engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution. - Review and approve drawings, design calculations, specifications, and technical submissions. - Ensure effective coordination between architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines and resolve design-related conflicts. - Manage design submissions and approvals with relevant UAE authorities, including Dubai Municipality (DM), Trakhees, DDA, and other applicable authorities. - Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineers, architects, and design coordinators. - Monitor project progress, maintain quality standards, and ensure timely completion of design deliverables. - Identify potential design risks and implement effective solutions to minimize delays, rework, and cost implications. - Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, project reviews, and business development activities when required. Qualifications & Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Architecture is mandatory. - A Master’s degree or relevant management qualification is an advantage. - Minimum 12–15 years of professional experience in the UAE engineering consultancy industry. - Fluency in Arabic is mandatory. - Proven experience in a senior design management or departmental leadership role. - Strong knowledge of UAE building codes, regulations, authority approval procedures, and design standards. - Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and complex building projects. - Excellent understanding of architectural and engineering design coordination, technical reviews, and quality control. - Experience dealing with Dubai Municipality, Trakhees, DDA, and other relevant UAE authorities. - Strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and project management skills. - Excellent communication, client management, and team coordination abilities. - Proficiency in relevant design software and BIM workflows, including AutoCAD, Revit, and other applicable design tools. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be an Arabic-speaking architectural professional with extensive UAE consultancy experience, strong technical expertise, and proven leadership capabilities. The candidate must be able to lead multidisciplinary design teams, manage client relationships, coordinate with local authorities, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality design projects.
