The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing, maintaining, securing, and optimizing enterprise database environments. This role requires close collaboration with developers, infrastructure teams, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure databases are reliable, secure, highly available, and performing efficiently. The successful candidate will be comfortable supporting production environments, troubleshooting complex database issues, implementing database best practices, and working within an Agile/Scrum environment. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise database systems. Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and perform query and database optimization. Manage database backup, recovery, restoration, and disaster recovery procedures. Ensure database availability, reliability, integrity, and security across development, testing, and production environments. Manage database users, roles, permissions, and access controls according to organizational security policies. Perform database upgrades, patches, migrations, and configuration changes. Troubleshoot database incidents, performance issues, connectivity problems, and production failures. Work closely with Developers, Architects, DevOps, Infrastructure, and Application Support teams. Review SQL queries, stored procedures, indexes, and database designs to identify performance and scalability improvements. Develop and maintain database monitoring, maintenance, and automation processes. Support application deployments and database changes across multiple environments. Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions. Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, standards, and best practices. Support data migration, system integration, reporting, and application modernization initiatives. Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical discussions, incident resolution, and production support activities. Ensure database environments comply with organizational security, audit, and data governance requirements. Qualifications 7+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, Database Engineer, or similar role. Strong experience administering relational database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar enterprise databases . Strong knowledge of SQL, database performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and execution plans. Experience with database backup, recovery, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery. Solid understanding of database security, authentication, authorization, roles, and access management. Experience troubleshooting complex database and production performance issues. Knowledge of database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and migration processes. Experience supporting databases in development, testing, staging, and production environments. Familiarity with cloud database platforms such as Microsoft Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or equivalent is an asset. Experience with database monitoring and automation tools is an asset. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments . Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional technical teams. Experience working with government or public sector organizations is considered an asset. Pay: $40.00-$85.90 per hour Work Location: Hybrid remote in Brampton, ON L6Y 2Y2
