Job Overview

D4 Discovery is seeking a detail-oriented Data Analyst to help process, organize, validate, and analyze complex datasets used in electronic discovery, litigation support, and investigations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience working with structured and unstructured data, and the ability to transform large volumes of information into accurate, useful results.

In this proposed role, the Data Analyst will collaborate with data processing specialists, project managers, and litigation support teams to assess data quality, identify patterns, prepare reports, and support efficient information review workflows. Accuracy, confidentiality, and careful documentation are essential when handling potentially sensitive legal information.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, organize, clean, and analyze datasets from multiple sources.
• Validate data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and formatting.
• Use spreadsheets, SQL queries, and data analysis tools to investigate and resolve data discrepancies.
• Prepare reports, summaries, and visualizations to communicate findings.
• Identify data trends, anomalies, duplicate records, and potential processing issues.
• Support electronic discovery workflows involving data collection, processing, review, and production.
• Work with technical teams to investigate data import, conversion, and extraction issues.
• Maintain clear documentation of analytical methods, validation checks, and findings.
• Assist with quality assurance procedures to ensure accurate and consistent deliverables.
• Handle confidential client information in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements.
• Coordinate with project teams to prioritize requests and meet deadlines.
• Recommend improvements to data handling, reporting, and analysis processes.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience in data analysis, data processing, reporting, or a related technical role.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including sorting, filtering, formulas, and data validation.
• Familiarity with SQL and relational database concepts.
• Ability to clean, organize, compare, and interpret large datasets.
• Strong problem-solving and data quality assurance skills.
• Ability to document findings and communicate results clearly.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
• Willingness to learn electronic discovery tools and legal data workflows.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with electronic discovery (eDiscovery), litigation support, or legal technology.
• Familiarity with data processing and document review platforms.
• Knowledge of Python or other scripting tools for data analysis and automation.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools.
• Understanding of metadata, file formats, data extraction, and data conversion.
• Familiarity with quality control procedures and chain-of-custody documentation.
• Experience working with large datasets in deadline-driven project environments.
