We are looking to expand our surgical team by recruiting an experienced, patient-focused Cosmetic Surgeon who shares our commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety and high standards of care. This is an excellent opportunity for a surgeon looking to develop their private cosmetic surgery practice within an established clinic environment, supported by an experienced clinical and administrative team. The Role The successful candidate will undertake consultations, assess patient suitability and perform cosmetic surgical procedures within their individual scope of competence and professional qualifications. Depending on experience and specialist interests, procedures may include: Breast augmentation Breast uplift (mastopexy) Breast reduction Abdominoplasty / tummy tuck Mini abdominoplasty Liposuction and body contouring VASER liposuction Fat transfer procedures Gynaecomastia surgery Blepharoplasty Otoplasty Lip lift Facial cosmetic surgery Other appropriate cosmetic surgical procedures within the surgeon’s demonstrated scope of practice We are particularly interested in surgeons with strong experience in breast surgery, body contouring and/or facial cosmetic surgery. Key Responsibilities The Cosmetic Surgeon will: Conduct comprehensive face-to-face patient consultations and clinical assessments. Determine patient suitability for cosmetic surgery, including identifying contraindications and patients for whom surgery would not be appropriate. Discuss realistic outcomes, alternatives, limitations, risks and potential complications. Obtain and document appropriate informed consent in accordance with professional and regulatory standards. Develop individualised surgical treatment plans. Perform agreed cosmetic surgical procedures safely and to a consistently high clinical standard. Maintain comprehensive and accurate clinical records. Provide appropriate pre-operative and post-operative care. Review patients following surgery and manage complications appropriately. Work closely with nurses, healthcare assistants, clinic management and other members of the surgical team. Participate in clinical governance, audits, incident reviews and quality-improvement activities where required. Maintain strict infection-prevention, safeguarding and patient-confidentiality standards. Ensure practice remains within the surgeon’s training, competence, indemnity arrangements and professional scope of practice. Essential Requirements Applicants should: Hold a recognised medical qualification. Have full GMC registration with a licence to practise in the UK. Have appropriate surgical training and demonstrable experience relevant to the cosmetic procedures they intend to undertake. Maintain appropriate medical indemnity covering private cosmetic surgical practice. Maintain current appraisal and revalidation requirements. Have evidence of continuing professional development relevant to cosmetic surgery. Have excellent consultation, communication and patient-management skills. Demonstrate a strong understanding of consent, patient selection, complication management and postoperative care. Be committed to ethical cosmetic practice and place patient safety ahead of commercial considerations. Be able to provide evidence of qualifications, training, operative experience and professional references. Desirable Experience We would particularly welcome candidates with: FRCS or equivalent surgical qualifications. Specialist training in plastic, reconstructive, general or other surgery relevant to their proposed cosmetic practice. Significant experience within UK private cosmetic surgery. Experience performing breast augmentation, mastopexy, breast reduction and abdominoplasty. Experience in VASER liposuction and advanced body contouring. Experience performing procedures under local anaesthesia, sedation and/or general anaesthesia as appropriate to the procedure and facility. An established cosmetic surgery portfolio with demonstrable outcomes. Experience working within a CQC-regulated independent healthcare environment. Candidates must be prepared to advise against surgery where they believe a procedure is not clinically appropriate or is unlikely to meet the patient’s expectations.
