The Corporate Web Developer and UI/UX Specialist is a strategic and execution-focused digital professional responsible for improving the usability, visual effectiveness, and conversion performance of Focus on the Family’s digital experiences. As the organization’s primary technical and user-experience authority for its websites, this role leads the ongoing improvement and redesigning of the organization’s web presence, ensuring that digital experiences are intuitive, accessible, visually consistent, easy to navigate, discoverable through search, reliable, and high-performing. Reporting to the Exec. Director of Product Development, this role enhances landing pages, applications, and campus guest digital journeys so constituents can easily discover, engage with, and benefit from the ministry’s programs and products. Working at the intersection of design, user behavior, and analytics, this position applies usability best practices, A/B testing, and performance data to improve engagement, conversion, retention, and constituent satisfaction. The Corporate Web Developer and UI/UX Specialist partners closely with product, marketing, development, and creative teams to translate program, service, and product goals into clear, compelling, and high-performing digital experiences. As the Corporate Web Developer and UI/UX specialist, this person sets the standards for the website from page load times to overall brand representation and consistency across the site. This role keeps the constituent at the center of every design decision, ensuring that the ministry’s programs and products are presented in ways that are intuitive, accessible, and aligned with the mission of reaching and strengthening families in Christ. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Analyzes and optimizes the UI/UX of Programs and Products landing pages to improve usability, design effectiveness, and conversion performance Owns and maintains a shared component/design system so department developers build consistently rather than recreating UI patterns Defines and enforces performance budgets (load time, page weight, Core Web Vitals) as a gate for any new page or feature shipped across the site Establishes a lightweight technical review process (e.g., RFCs for significant changes) to maintain architectural coherence across a matrixed team without direct reporting authority Coordinates sprint priorities and technical dependencies across departments in partnership with each Marketing Manager Provides technical mentorship and UI/UX guidance to department-level developers and web designers Leads blameless post-incident reviews when site issues occur (broken links, outages, SEO drops), feeding learnings back into monitoring and process Plans and executes A/B tests on landing pages and applies findings to improve user flow, design decisions, and conversion rates Maintains brand consistency and accessibility standards across Programs and Products digital properties Analyzes and improves the UI/UX of Programs and Products applications by identifying friction points and recommending enhancements that increase engagement and retention Reviews application user journeys, navigation, and interface patterns to ensure intuitive, mobile-responsive, and user-centered experiences Collaborates with developers and web designers and product stakeholders to prioritize, refine, and validate application design improvements Provides UI/UX consultation for new Programs and Products from concept through launch, helping ensure a strong and effective user experience throughout the development lifecycle Advises product teams on wireframes, design concepts, functional specifications, and user experience considerations during early development stages Conducts pre-launch quality review of pages, applications, and prototypes for usability, browser compatibility, mobile responsiveness, accessibility, and load performance Optimizes the digital experience by improving user-facing touchpoints that guide visitors through their interaction with the ministry Serves as a visual brand steward by maintaining consistent design standards across Programs and Products digital platforms and contributing to the evolution of the ministry’s digital design approach through user-informed improvements Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, development, and creative, to translate ministry goals into polished, effective, and high-performing digital experiences Researches constituent behavior, industry best practices, and emerging technologies to inform design decisions and improve engagement, conversion, and retention Site Reliability & Performance: Sets requirements for and consumes broken-link/page-error alerting (built in partnership Define with software engineering) Owns page load speed and performance optimization to reduce visitor abandonment and support SEO and user experience Establishes site health as an ongoing monitored discipline, addressing the organization’s history of undetected broken links and lost SEO value UX, Design & Discoverability: Leads the redesign/overhaul of managed websites to improve usability, information architecture, and visual brand consistency Architects content, organization, search, tagging, and navigation systems so users can easily find relevant content within a large content library Owns the technical/architectural foundation for SEO and AI-engine discoverability (site structure, crawlability, indexing, sitemaps, schema markup, internal linking), in close partnership with the content team’s SEO/AEO specialists, who own keyword and content-level optimization Experimentation & Personalization Platform: Owns the technical standards and platform selection for on-site experimentation, including A/B testing and multi-armed bandit/adaptive optimization (“king of the hill” testing), where the best-performing treatment automatically receives an increasing share of traffic over time Provides department developers with a consistent, statistically sound framework for testing CTAs, conversion paths, and personalized experiences Partners with the Marketing Cloud Personalization lead on the technical integration of personalization with the experimentation platform Data & Engagement Enablement: Ensures the right tracking, tagging, and data-layer infrastructure is implemented site-wide so the organization’s data/reporting team can accurately capture and report on user behavior Partners with the data/reporting team to translate business questions (engagement, conversion, low-performing pages) into proper technical instrumentation Develops working knowledge of how users engage with and return to the site; partner with marketing to identify structural or UX changes that increase engagement and visit frequency Social & Cross-Platform Engagement Infrastructure: Builds technical infrastructure for landing pages/templates tuned for traffic arriving from YouTube and social platforms, including referrer-aware page logic that surfaces relevant on-site content based on the source Implements on-site video infrastructure (chapters, related-content rails, VideoObject structured data) so the site’s own video content is indexable and competitive, not just an embedded iframe Builds re-engagement mechanics (e.g., watch progress, related content, save/return pathways) that give social-sourced visitors a reason to return to the site Ensures fast, frictionless sharing pathways back out to social/YouTube (Open Graph/Twitter Card tags, deep links) so engagement can flow in both directions Partners with engineering/data teams to connect external platform engagement signals to on-site behavior within Salesforce Platform Strategy & Integration: Leads website integration of the current ecommerce platform with the main website and content ecosystem Supports the organization’s shift to a digital-first, video-first content strategy through appropriate site architecture and delivery infrastructure Works within the organization’s Salesforce ecosystem to ensure proper data flow between web properties and Salesforce Collaborates closely with software engineering on integrations and architecture decisions Other Duties/Responsibilities: Stays informed on best practices, industry standards, and accessibility requirements relevant to assigned projects and communicates applicable recommendations Supports promotion planning, campaign coordination, and product launch decisions as needed Creates and maintains documentation, style guides, and functional specifications for assigned work Performs other duties as assigned, including the creation of copyrightable works for the benefit of Focus on the Family Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job: None Working Environment/Physical Requirements: Works primarily in an office environment Requires physical presence at the Colorado Springs campus Operates in a fast-paced environment with shifting project priorities and cross-functional demands May experience deadline-driven work periods during product launches and campaign cycles JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Character/Spiritual: Exemplifies Ephesians 5:1-2, “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children and walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us...” Pursues the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you;
