Job Summary: Conductor Power is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of a growing, multi-entity organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will lead the accounting team and be responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the Company's financial information. This role will oversee the monthly and annual close process, financial reporting, daily treasury and cash management, multi-entity and intercompany accounting, consolidations, tax compliance support, internal controls, and construction/project accounting. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with a hands-on, business-minded approach. This individual will be comfortable working in the details while also improving processes, developing the accounting team, strengthening financial controls, and helping build scalable infrastructure to support the Company's continued growth. This position may be performed remotely; however, candidates located near Baxter, Minnesota, or able to spend meaningful time at the Company's headquarters are preferred. Supervisory Responsibilities: The Controller is responsible for the direct supervision, leadership, and development of a team of two accounting professionals. This includes assigning and prioritizing work, providing guidance and support, monitoring performance and workload, conducting performance feedback and evaluations, and supporting professional development. The Controller will foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team while ensuring accounting responsibilities are completed accurately and timely. Duties/Responsibilities: Accounting Operations & Financial Close Lead and manage the day-to-day accounting operations for Conductor Power and related entities. Manage, develop, and provide leadership to Senior Accountants and support staff while helping build a scalable and high-performing accounting function. Own and continuously improve the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, including management of the close calendar, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of entity-level and consolidated financial information. Oversee core accounting processes, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts. Multi-Entity Accounting & Financial Reporting Lead accounting activities within a multi-entity environment, including intercompany accounting, reconciliations, settlements, eliminations, and consolidated reporting. Support financial reporting requirements for management, ownership, lenders, and other stakeholders. Maintain strong balance sheet management practices and ensure timely and accurate account reconciliations. Treasury, Cash & Financing Lead daily treasury and cash management activities, including cash positioning, banking activity, liquidity monitoring, and support for cash forecasting. Support accounting and reporting for debt, lines of credit, investments, and other financing activities in partnership with the CFO. Construction & Project Accounting Lead and support construction and project accounting, including work-in-progress, percentage-of-completion accounting, project costs, revenue recognition, job margins, and estimates to complete. Partner closely with Operations, Project Management, Procurement, Project Controls, and other business leaders to ensure accurate project financial information and identify opportunities for improved processes and controls. Tax, Controls & Compliance Support sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, and other state and local tax compliance requirements. Work with the CFO and external tax advisors to support federal and state income tax compliance and reporting within an S-Corporation and multi-entity environment. Establish, maintain, and improve accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and financial processes. Systems, Process Improvement & Leadership Serve as a key finance leader in improving and optimizing the Company's ERP and financial systems, reporting capabilities, and accounting workflows. Partner with the CFO and leadership team on special projects, process improvements, and other strategic Finance initiatives. Develop and strengthen accounting processes, controls, reporting capabilities, and infrastructure to support continued organizational growth. Prior experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar accounting leadership role. Demonstrated experience leading and improving the monthly financial close process and preparing or reviewing financial statements. Experience working in a multi-entity environment with intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and/or consolidated financial reporting. Experience leading and developing accounting professionals. Experience with daily cash management and treasury operations. Experience with sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, or other multi-jurisdictional indirect tax requirements. General understanding of corporate income tax and entity structures, including S-Corporation environments. Preferred Qualifications: CPA or other advanced accounting credentials. Construction, engineering, project-based, or similar industry accounting experience. Direct experience with work-in-progress and percentage-of-completion accounting. Experience with NetSuite or another modern cloud-based ERP system. Experience participating in an ERP implementation, optimization, enhancement, or significant finance systems improvement initiative. Experience supporting a growing organization with multiple legal entities and increasingly complex financial reporting requirements. Physical Requirements: Primarily sedentary work when working in the office. Occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing; frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard and office equipment; vision for reading, recording, and interpreting information; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and other team members. When visiting a job site, the ability to move around project sites, which may involve walking, climbing stairs, and navigating uneven terrain. Travel: This position may be performed remotely within the United States. Candidates located near Baxter, Minnesota are encouraged to work from Conductor Power's headquarters on a regular basis. Candidates located outside the Baxter area may be required to travel to the Company’s headquarters as needed to support business priorities and the Company’s growth. Occasional travel to project and job sites may be required to better understand the Company's operations, build relationships with operational teams, and identify opportunities for financial and process improvement.
